Q. Hi my front teeth are perfectly together, however there is a small gap at the outer edge of them between the next teeth. I was wondering how much (roughly) would cosmetic bonding cost to make them look perfect and also how long does it roughly take? ( how many sessions?) It is something that has bothered me for ages and it affects my confidence so I am hoping to get it fixed. Also i have moved to Uxbridge area of Middlesex, so are there any dentists that you know of who could recommend to carry out the procedure, although if required i wouldn’t mind travelling into London. kind regards
A. Bonding takes one visit to do following a consultation. It would cost anything up to anout £400 deoending on the size. I do not know of anyone in this area but im sure if you search for a dentist in that area in google you will find many.
Kind regards

Q. Dear Dr Justin Glaister! I am writing to you, as my husband is suffering from terrible toothache for the last 2 weeks. He took so many painkillers by now, and still no help. His tooth is aching almost every day, or every second day. We both know, he should go to a dentist urgently, but sadly we can’t afford those high prices. He is on the NHS waiting list, but it is ever so long. Is it true, if he goes to the hospital for emergency treatment, he gets it for free? We come from Hungary, and waiting to go home at the summer, and sort it out there. But this pain is getting unberable for both of us. Is any advise you could give him? Looking forward to hear from you. Thank you.
A. Your husband can go to the emergency dental hospital

A. You need to try to find a dentist NHS or private ASAP perhaps one that offers treatment under intra-venous sedation to help you to relax during treatment. Once this treatment is underway you should start to get your confidence back Best wishes Andrew

Q. I wanted to ask you doctor that I am going to study dental technology in manchester for 3/4 years fulltime with a sandwich degree and I was wondering what can I do after completing this degree as I am not sure about the whole thing. can you give me some advice please on how to be successfull in the future
A. I guess dental technology will take you into a career as a lab technician. A good person to speak to would be Luke Barnett at Luk Barnett laboratorys in Watford. He is one of the most experienced technicians in the country. Good luck andrew

Q. hi DR.MOORE, i am applying to dentistry this year, could you please give me some top tips, about doing my best in terms of interviews, personal statement, and etc? thankyou
A. The best thing to have in your CV is probably time visiting dentists to gain experience of working in a dentl practice. The first place to ask is your own dentist to see if they would allow you to sit in for a week or 2 with maybe a letter saying how much you enjoyed it etc… obviously the most important factor will be your grades at the end of the day but it will all help. Good luck Andrew

Q. Dear Dr Moore, I am 33 years old and am thinking about having cosmetic dental treatment. When i was a teenager, I wore every conceivable brace possible. However, the braces didn’t really do me any good and I still have some overcrowding on my front teeth (top and bottom). I am confused about what type of treatment to go for and am fearful that braces may not work. I have been looking into cosmetic dentistry and would like to know the pros and cons of having vaneers and/or Inman aligner and invisible braces. If I go for the Inman aligner – are the results generally quite good? Also, can you recommend a well respected dentist in Bristol? I would be really greatful to know your honest opinion. Regards
A. inman aligners work well for crowding of the front 4-6 teeth only and have a more limited application compared to fixed braces. veneers involve drilling down some of the tooth before bonding a thin porcelain laminate onto the surface of the tooth. I hope this helps, I know a dentist in the Bath area Dr Dermot McNulty, he maybe able to help you

Q. Please could you send me a list of dentists in Bristol that do gum grafting or what else can be done to help with 2 loose teeth due to gum loss?
A. Dear C
You would be better advised to seek a recommendation from your existing dentist or dental hospital as to who your local provider of these treatments would be
Kind regards
Dr Justin Glaister
