Q. Hi.My son is 10 and his top canines are just erupting. One is out and seems to be high on his gum but not impeded in any way.Is this normal and is it likely to move down to join adjacent teeth?I have just been to dentist but she is off sick and my next appt is not till January. Please advise for the meantime.Thank you.
A. It is normal for the canines to do this, my son looks the same! Wait for another 2 years or so and see how they develope as the teeth erupt and the child grows.

Q. Hello i have applied to dentistry to start in 2010 and have an interview on the 3rd of november. I was wondering if you could tell me some of the most recent dental advancements in technology and if you know any current issues?
A. hi many thanks for your email, the issues are many and so are the advancements. my advice would be to have broad knowledge of all the basic dental procedures, they are not expecting you to be a dental geek, just enthusiastic.

Q. Hi, i wore braces for 1 and half years, but my teeth still doesnt look that good. my dentist told me that i have to wear retainerd all the time when i go bed. Just wanted to know whether if there is any chance of me stop wearing the retainers anymore? or What can i do to not to wear them anymore?
A. If they don’t look right you might need to have more active treatment before the retention, you could even try a bonded retainer as it works better if you don’t want to keep wearing a removable one.

Q. Hello…my son is 10 year old and neeeds surgery for his tongue tie and i have read about the laser surgery to correct it..although the nhs has not offered it as yet..how much would it cost privately. ALSO CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME IF IT SAFE AND BETTER THAN THE CONVENTIONAL SURGERY? THANK YOU.

Q. I would like to start a new career in teeth whitening, could you tell me what course I need to attend and how long would the course last? Or instead of attending the course could I gain the knowledge and experience working in a dentist.
A. The first thing you need is a dental degree I am not sure from your question whether you are a dentist yet. If you are there are a number of courses you can go on to gain the knowledge and experience. You are more than welcome to re email me to tell me your current occupation.

Q. Hi, Do all University’s in the Uk require that you show manual dexterity ie: art sketch pad.I really would love to become a dentist but I am no good a art or drawing, so if you have the required grades could you get away with not showing manual dexterity? Many Thanks,
A.
I apologise delays with emails mean that I expect you have now resolved this issue. If you still require an Answer please copy and paste and I will respond by return
Dr Rob Tennet
Generally they dont asses manual skills for entrance qualifications however It is part of the job.so you need to be confident you can produce mini artworks on daily basis with a little training

Traffic to www.cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk has been growing rapidly over the last few months with over 39,000 unique visitors in the last 30 days. A large proportion of the traffic has been coming from the USA and so we have developed a US dental directory with lists of cosmetic dentists in all the states to help our firends over the pond to find a cosmetic dentist near them.
