Q. I want to get a white gold tooth fitted, (lateral inscisor) merely for fasion purposes so to speak and i want to know 1. do i go to a regualr dentist to get this done, if not where? 2. roughly how much could this cost? 3. i live in mitcham – south west london, could u recommend anywhwere nearby i could get this done? much appreciated
A. hi many thanks for your email, my advice would be have the treatment done via a cosmetic dentist, the cost can vary from practice to practice but expect to pay between £600 – £1000 for the tooth, the only dentist i can recommend highly is Dr Riten Patel of the Mulberry clinic in surrey. hope this is helpful.

Q. The skin between my lower gum and lip has recently just dissapeared. I assume it fell out or was ripped out by something , and it is hurting a lot . It’s hurt for about 3 days now and I dont knnow what caused it, what i should do , and if it will even heal on its own or not . Is this a cause for worry ?
A. I would ask your dentist to take a look to see what has happened

Q. hi i need a lot of dental work. im 21 and terrified. can you be put asleep in your local nhs dentist?
A.
You cannot go under GA in any general dental practice you would need to be referred to the hospital by your general dentist. Some dental practices however so offer sedation.
Kind regards

Q. Hi my front teeth are perfectly together, however there is a small gap at the outer edge of them between the next teeth. I was wondering how much (roughly) would cosmetic bonding cost to make them look perfect and also how long does it roughly take? ( how many sessions?) It is something that has bothered me for ages and it affects my confidence so I am hoping to get it fixed. Also i have moved to Uxbridge area of Middlesex, so are there any dentists that you know of who could recommend to carry out the procedure, although if required i wouldn’t mind travelling into London. kind regards
A. Bonding takes one visit to do following a consultation. It would cost anything up to anout £400 deoending on the size. I do not know of anyone in this area but im sure if you search for a dentist in that area in google you will find many.
Kind regards

Q. Dear Dr Justin Glaister! I am writing to you, as my husband is suffering from terrible toothache for the last 2 weeks. He took so many painkillers by now, and still no help. His tooth is aching almost every day, or every second day. We both know, he should go to a dentist urgently, but sadly we can’t afford those high prices. He is on the NHS waiting list, but it is ever so long. Is it true, if he goes to the hospital for emergency treatment, he gets it for free? We come from Hungary, and waiting to go home at the summer, and sort it out there. But this pain is getting unberable for both of us. Is any advise you could give him? Looking forward to hear from you. Thank you.
A. Your husband can go to the emergency dental hospital

A. You need to try to find a dentist NHS or private ASAP perhaps one that offers treatment under intra-venous sedation to help you to relax during treatment. Once this treatment is underway you should start to get your confidence back Best wishes Andrew

Q. I had a white filling placed on one of my front teeth a few years back, I don’t think the dentist was comfortable with the bonding procedure, and since then the surface of that tooth is lumpy and uneven. Would it be possible to have a dentist “smooth” the tooth out by buffing or polishing it? Thank you.
A. Go back and see your dentist and explain this I am sure they will be able to polish the tooth and make it smoother.

Q. What can you use to rid sulphur bac on the tongue? Mouthwash? Thanks
A. A tongue scraper is effective although you need to have your tongue properly examined as you may have an infection of your tongue such as Candida. Please visit your dentist ASAP

Q. Hi doctor. I am having alot of discomfort with my new 10 upper porcelain veneers. From around day 4 of my temporaries being fitted the problems began. When i went back to the dentist, he told me that some food had maybe got into the bond as there were small holes. I thought my problems would be over when i had my porcelain veneers fitted. No such luck! A week later i was back and sent to a root specialist, he slightl
y adjusted my bite and a week later i am still hurting, on and off, and if i have not got pain i have got face ache that goes into my ears and temples, like muscle spasms which gives me vertigo. I can eat, Just! But am sensitive to hot beverages. My own dentist took a normal x-ray but could not see any root damage. I paid alot of money at a top London dentist and am so annoyed and confused at what has gone wrong. Any advice will be gratefully received. Thank you.
A. I think that the problem is coming form your bite. Book in to see a TMJ specialist or go back to the dentist who placed your veneers and ask him to check your bite again.
Kind regards

Q. hi DR.MOORE, i am applying to dentistry this year, could you please give me some top tips, about doing my best in terms of interviews, personal statement, and etc? thankyou
A. The best thing to have in your CV is probably time visiting dentists to gain experience of working in a dentl practice. The first place to ask is your own dentist to see if they would allow you to sit in for a week or 2 with maybe a letter saying how much you enjoyed it etc… obviously the most important factor will be your grades at the end of the day but it will all help. Good luck Andrew

Q. Hi So, I’m 40 & have finally got round to getting my teeth straightened. They’re not bad except there’s crowding & my teeth are not in a nice round arch. I have some back tweaks & also grind, so ALF seems to be the best treatment. Straightened teeth in a holistic way. So my question: anyone know of a good dentist in London who performs this treatment as I would like to book a consultation. I sent an email in the ‘Contact Us’ section of this website but failed to receive an answer as yet. Thanks
A. You could try one of my colleagues Julian Gleister at Umbrella 11 Harley Street, London W1G 9PF Web: www.umbrellasmiles.com Tel: 020 7612 9810

Q. hi there , i have some old fillings that are starting to cause me alot of problems and i worry now so much about my teeth. im 42 and havent been to the dentist in yrs and just a few days ago a big piece of took and filling came from the back of mt tooth . please tell me that there is someway to save the tooth , i have not loss any teeth yet and its just not been good for me in the yrs moneywise to see a dentist and have this done , but right now i have no other choice to start fixing all my problems . please tell me that u think there is someway to fix this problem .
A. It all depends on how much of the tooth is left. We always advise people with heavily restored teeth to have crowns to protect the teeth underneath.
I would advise you to go for a consultaion and discuss all of your issues and concerns. Remember that regualr dental checks up mean that small problems can be detected- prevented and sorted before any big treatment is needed. The longer you leave it between your dental visits, the more likely you are to need dental treatment.

Q. i want to get grills on my teeth just for 2 tooths but i would like to know were to get them in west london or central london because i heard theres a shop that does it in hatton gardens
A. Grills for teeth are very poplular on the hip-hop scene. It is a quite specialised area- and I am not sure where to recommend, but I have heard that grills by Paul Wall are quite good. You can have them customised to how you want. The website www.grillsbypaulwall.com is recommended. Perhaos they can best recommend you to their nearest dentist who can provide you with better information. Good luck.
