Would Cerec veneers give a better look than my Mac veneers which have gaps at the gum margins?

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010
Q.

Dear Dr Solanki,

I have a question about cerec veneers. I am looking to replace my Mac veneers as I am not happy with them. When the finals were fitted, there were gaps between the gum margins that were not there when I had the temporaries. I am now thinking about cerec veneers as I have heard that they are very precise, and the dentist who assessed me feels that my gums could have been pushed up by the temps when I had the mac ones done which have caused the gaps.

With cerec veneers, are they the same as other porcelain veneers with regard to strength? Do they last as long?

I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks very much

My bottom teeth are worn down, I think because I may grind my teeth in my sleep. Should i get crowns or veneers?

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010
Q.

Hi. I am fifty five years old and my teeth are well looked after, and quite white with the bleaching that I have done every five years with my dentist. The problem is that my bottom teeth are quite worn down, i may grind them in my sleep. I have started to wear the cover that were for the bleaching to stop me from doing this. What do yiou think is the best option for me. Either to have crowns on them all, which II understand to be very very strong these days. Or for veneers, but are they as good, or as long lasting.

Is there any way to temporarily cover up my shaven tooth that has been prepped for a veneer?

Thursday, December 9th, 2010
Q.

Hi Andrew, i am having a veneer, and the first ‘moulding’ appointment is in two weeks, this is where I’ve been told that they will shave my tooth and take a mould to be sent off.
i then have my ‘fitting’ appointment two weeks after that, so my question is, will i have to put up with a shaven tooth for two weeks?
I broke my tooth years ago, and occasionally it snaps now (which is why I’m having the veneer) and each time it snaps, to me it looks horrible
i don’t particularly want to have to put up with this for two weeks.

Many thanks

If any of my dental veneers fell off how would my natural tooth look underneath?

Saturday, December 4th, 2010
Q.

I have recently had Cosmetic Dentistry undertaken (6 weeks ago), which included a root canal, full porcelain crown and 7 porcelain veneers on my 8 upper front teeth. I am ecstatic with the result but I was wondering – If a veneer fell off, what could I expect to see in relation to how my natural tooth would look? Would it be filed down, grey, black? I didn’t like to ask my wonderful dentist as I felt I’d asked enough stupid questions. During a short break when I was having the treatment I went to the bathroom but never opened my mouth to look in the mirror as I was a little scared as to what I might see. Any information you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

If I had veneers placed after my Invisalign treatment would they be able to provide me with a retainer also?

Saturday, December 4th, 2010
Q.

I am nearing the end of my invisalign treatment (nearly 2 years) and I am unhappy with the results.

I have a bonded retainer at the bottom but it is uncomfortable and the other teeth have moved back causing one to be wobbley, its been like that for the last 8 months.

When I finish the top set my ortho wants another bonded retainer. I think I will want veneers so want to avoid the bonded retainer.

If I get veneers done elsewhere will they still be able to provide me with a retainerk, If so what retainer and how much will it cost?

Thanks
