I Have A Massive Phobia Of Dentists And Have Not Been For Ten Years. What Is The Cheapest And Least Painful Option For A Whole Mouth Of Work?

Thursday, June 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Moore. First of all, let me tell you I have a massive phobia of dentists. I have not had any work done to my teeth in over 10 years, and they are chipped, discoloured, rotten and in some parts missing. I don’t think there’s One tooth in my mouth that would not need treatment. I would love to transform my teeth into a smile but I worry about cost & pain/fears. What is the cheapest & least painful option for a whole mouthful of work? Thank you.

I Have Been Quoted The Sum Of £1000 For Two Fixed Bridges. Is This A Fair Price?

Monday, May 19th, 2014
Q.

Dear Mark. I have been quoted the sum of £1000 for two fixed bridges on the upper teeth. Is this a fair price? I am returning to my dentist today to get a breakdown of the costs involved.
My jaw is not suitable for implants.
Could you suggest any other options for replacing these teeth please? Also how long does a dental bridge last as I am concerned that I may have to pay this amount of money again in a few years.
Thank you.

Monday, February 24th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. My teeth are overcrowded which I feel is down to my wisdom teeth and my tooth right of my front teeth which protrudes greatly. It means that I take a bad photo when smiling. I want to have them fixed but would like to know an approx cost, as I know every patient is different. Please can you give me some information as I really do not know what I need but do and I do not want to get stung for something that is too expensive, many thanks.

How Much Does It Cost For The NHS To Remove A Painful Impacted Wisdom Tooth? I’m In Agony.

Thursday, February 13th, 2014
Q.

Hi there, I am a Scottish and I’m living in London. After years of wisdom tooth pain I had enough, I had my teeth checked when I was in Scotland at Christmas time and said to the dentist I can’t cope (I broke down in tears at work – not ideal) and I really needed them gone. She said that she can refer me to a doctor as one of them is impacted and the other isn’t. This would have been fine apart from the doctor is in Scotland not England. So now I am left with very painful teeth, both coming through at once, it’s causing ear ache and gland problems. My face is always agony, I cannot sleep due to clenching my jaw, do not talk to me about eating! Haha, sometimes I get up and it is relatively pain free after a couple of cups of something warm. Anyway, what can I do? How does the NHS work in England? Please can someone give me advice as I have been quoted prices from £150 (non-impacted) to £700 for the impacted ones to be removed. Kind Regards.

What Would Your Advice Be To Get My Mouth Back Back To Normal, And What Costs Would I Be Looking At?

Thursday, February 13th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark, I have no teeth at the front apart from two fangs that is falling out of the gum. I wearing partial denture and I’m wearing a lower denture. The top plate and lower denture is broken and dropping out of my mouth. What work would a dentist do to get my mouth smiling again. I have 6 teeth at the bottom and no teeth on the right and no teeth on the left. What would your advice be to get my mouth back to normal, and what costs would I be looking at? Thank you.

How Much Would A Partial Denture Of 4 Teeth Cost Me?

Wednesday, February 12th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. How much is a partial denture of 4 teeth and how much would total treatment cost me? I have not seen a dentist for over 10 years and am very nervous. If I had further teeth extracted could I have dentures fitted the same day to avoid embarrassment. My only real problem is my top teeth as they are coming loose and I have a few crowns. I am 56 years old and need assurance that I can afford the treatment before proceeding. I look forward to your advice regarding this situation.

My Overbite Is Causing My Jaw To Ache But I Can’t Afford Braces To Correct It. Is There Any Thing Else I Can Do?

Wednesday, February 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Moore. I’m looking for some advice. I’ve recently visited my local dentist because I had pain in my front teeth and my jaw aches often. The dentist said its because I have an “overbite”. Whenever my bottom teeth touch my front it causes pain. The roof of my mouth has also started being very tender when I touch it with my tongue. She said the only way to sort it out is to have braces; that will cost 1900+. I can’t afford this as I’m on benefits. What else could I do? Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing from you.

I Contacted My Dental School For Dental Implants, But My Dentist Wouldn’t Refer Me. Why?

Friday, August 30th, 2013
Q.

Hello, I contacted my Dental school, to enquire about dental implants being done, I’m unemployed, and I don’t work due to health issues. I asked if they do dental implants, they said yes they would do it free, only if I asked my dentist to refer me, I did this, but have been turned down and I don’t know why? They said I don’t meet the criteria. Do you know if I was to try another dental school, whether they would do it? It’s very costly for me to have it done, at my dentist. I’m having problems with my plate, I keep getting ulcers, taking, my plate out and in, to clean, also I have cracked two of my teeth twice, taking it out. Any suggestions for implants? Also what are the costs involved to have this done?
