Ive dental phobia and does all the dental work have to completed before having veneers

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hi there, I have a severe dental phobia but obviously need a dentist!! I’m interested in getting veneers also but I’m assuming that you would have to do any corrective dental work first? Is this right? Due to my phobia are you able to offer any sort of sedation at all? And does all dental work (I have a tooth at the back that has cracked) have to be completed before you can have veneers?

Ive a serve phobia of dentist and i have two pretty deep cavities could i have root canal treatment

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr, I have a severe phobia of dentists following a bad experience when I was younger. I have two pretty deep cavities one at each side at the back top teeth, I can stick my tounge quite far into one of them and I have extremely bad breath which I’m guessing is a result of these. I have finally found the courage to go to the dentist and will go soon. I am only 25 years old and cannot bear the thought of extraction and would quite happily have root canal and crowns. I’m wondering if there are any instances where root canal cannot be used and extraction is the only option? I really don’t want to have missing teeth at 25, even if it is the back teeth! My confidence is so low, I’m so aware of my breath it’s ruining my life and as i have just graduated, I feel I cannot be a proffessional the way my teeth and breath are at the moment. Kind regards

My friend has a severe phobia of needles is there anyone who will use gas these days for sedation

Friday, June 19th, 2009
Q.
HI, my friend has a serious problem with her teeth, she has been told she needs 10 teeth extracted. She is a private patient and has a severe phobia of needles. Her dentist has referred her to specialists because she won’t have a needle for sedation. She has been told that no-one in the UK will use gas to put her to sleep so that a needle can then be used. She has now been told to go for hypnotherapy to cure her fear of needles. Is there anyone who will use gas these days? She is desperate, she has trouble eating and now even drinking. Thanks

Im 23 and my gums are infected and i had dry socket help with my dental phobia

Thursday, June 18th, 2009
Q.
I am 23 years old and at my wits end with my teeth. My front four top and bottom are the only ones which are okay. Every other tooth is filled beyond belief, infected or causing me problems. I have developed a SEVERE phobia of dentists now and have to be sedated to have any treatment. It took me 2 and a half years to build up the courage to have a decayed molar that was ground down to the root removed in March. the gum became infected thereafter and I had dry socket…. now, June 2009 and the surrounding teeth are causing me problems. I am now on the waiting list to be sedated to get these teeth sorted. My question is: Is there ANY dentist… is it even heard of that a dentist will remove MOST (not all) of my teeth… under sedation of course? I am honestly at my wits end with them now I cannot cope with anymore dental problems. I would give anything to have all of my back teeth and side teeth removed leaving me with only my front four on the top and bottom. I would happily live toothless for the rest of my life if it meant no more toothache. Thanks for your help.

I am 25, I have gaps in between and either side of my front 2 middle teeth please advice.

Sunday, June 14th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I had 2 front teeth taken out when I was younger. Either side of my middle two. I have had gaps for years and it has made me very depressed. I think the gaps have gotten smaller over time, and my two front teeth now have a small gap between them too, as if they have spread out. I have been reading about implants but this seams like it wouldn’t be an option as the gaps are now too small for replacement teeth, but too large for braces to pull them together. I am not sure what to do. I don’t currently have a dentist, this problem has been upsetting me for years I am now 25, and I have not been able to face the dentist since they took the teeth out when I was 19. Thanks.
