my bottom teeh in the front all four are loose

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q. I’m 45 yr. old female had dental problems since i was born couldn’t tolorate milk my mom said when i was born. so my teeth wasn’t healthy. my bottom teeh in the front all four are loose one of them in very loose than the other what sugestion you coudld give me. i need help i have no dental insurance.

A. You could have the teeth removed and a partial denture fitted. Once the tissues have stabilised you could consider your long-term options such as a bridge or dental implants. These are more costly options that you might need more time to consider whether they are right for you

A. There any insurance companies that provide cover for treatment for elective procedures that I know about. You could pay into a plan and get some money back I think Tesco do quite a good one

I’ve always had a gummy smile

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008
Q. I don’t know how to start these. :/ But, I’ve always had a gummy smile, I’ve always been made fun of because of it. I had braces on for five years, and yet, I still have a gap on one side of my two front teeth. I never even smile that much in pictures, because I fear embarrassment. I believe my smile is controllable, but why tolerate that and not get it corrected? I absolutely despise my gummy smile and also my poor enamel, which show white marks at the tip of my two front teeth. I just wish I could afford corrective gum surgery and porcelain veneers. I was wonder what the cost would be after insurance? Or at least an estimated cost. If not that what else should I do? Plus, I feel as if my teeth are already long and the gummy smile correction will make them even longer? or would you shave the teeth down? Thank you so much for taking time and reading my question. I just wish for the impossible.

A. Hi

I am sorry to hear about your circumstances.

Regarding costs, many practices offer finance plans to allow you to spread the cost from 1 to 5 years.

Unfortunately many insurance companies to not compensate for this form of cosmetic treatment.

I would recommend you book in for a consultation with a highly qualified cosmetic dentist to discuss your options and budget. Unfortunately I can not provide this for you without looking at the mouth in detail.

The gums of my front teeth are receding day-by-day

Thursday, November 27th, 2008
Q. The gums of my front teeth are receding day-by-day and the size of both of my front teeth are increasing and also my gums bleed very frequently.since i dont have an health insurance i have not consulted any dentist.which treatment do you suggest for me & what kind of insurance should i take???it would be nice of you if you mention the cost of the treatment as well

A. Hi,
your gums are receeding due t the onset of gm disease and possibl lifestyle habits such as smoking, the bleeding is a sign of inflammatory response.
you need to have a full examiation with x rays so the damage can be assessed and treated.
the treatment and hence  cost varies greatly and i wold advise tesco as a good insurance unless you can get cigna through your work.

My gums are receding day-by-day inturn increasing length of teeth

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008
Q. My gums are receding day-by-day inturn increasing the length of my both front teeth and my gums bleed very frequently.since i dont have an insurance i never consulted a dentist.which treatment/surgery do you recommend for me(plz include the cost of the surgery) & which dental insurance is best for me???

A.

It sounds like you have gum disease. This needs to be dealt with otherwise you are at risk of loosing your teeth. Unfortunately I don’t know of any insurance scheme that would cover this. If there were then just like medical insurance it would not cover pre existing conditions.
Many dentists have finanace plans which allow the cost to be spread over a number of years. This will be your best option. Treatment of gum disease is fairly involved and would cost between £500 and £800
Kind regards

I had a serious car accident whilst on holiday in turkey and had jaw surgery

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008
Q. Hello I had a serious car accident whilst on holiday in Turkey. In brief, I had jaw surgery and was wired for more than 4 weeks. The wires have been removed now. Its been like 6 weeks now since i had jaw surgery. I also had broken/chipped teeth because of the accident. My questions are: 1. How long should I wait to get my teeth sorted – to get veneers? 2. Should my travel insurance be responsible for my broken teeth as well? If yes, how do deal with insurance payments? Hope to hear from you soon

A. The teeth affected should be checked that the nerves inside are alive ( vitality test).  If they are are not the teeth should have the nerves treated and then all the damaged teeth restored with either white fillings, veneers or crowns depending on how severe the damage is to each tooth.  I cannot help you with the insurance issue – best advice is to contact them directly to find out if your policy covers you.

hi i have a lot of missing teeth and bad teeth

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008
Q. Hi i have a lot of missing teeth and bad teeth i want them all out i have health and hospital cover

A. If your teeth are passed saving then having them removed is a good option.  Dental implants could then be placed to give you new teeth.  Please go see a good dentist to assess your teeth first and give you all options available as your teeth may be able to be saved.

can i get dental insurance for a dracula tooth

Thursday, July 31st, 2008
Q. Hi….I hate my teeth. They are not HORRIBLE but I have one teeth on top that looks like a dracula tooth! And my front 2 main teeth are a LITTLE crooked. I was thinking about getting braces. I am 20. Is that the safest thing to do? I have looked into veeners and bonding – dont know much about them. I dont know how safe veeners and bonding are. So my best bet right now is braces. Or so I think? Also, I dont have dental insurance would you know what type would be the best one to get which covers braces and regular checkups – exrays, fillings, cavity??? ( one that will work in FL and NC, or NC ) ???? p.s. help =-/ Thank You!

A. Hi,

Since i practice in the UK, i am unable to guide you on what insurance policies are suitable for you.

Orthodontics is great for correcting the position of the teeth if you are happy with the shape of them.

Veneers involve the preparation of the teeth and is definately a quicker way to get the results you wish, but the risk involved depends on the position of the teeth. The teeth may need to be prepared slightly deeper then normal, which increases the risk of the nerve reacting.

I hope this helps.

is there insurance for cosmetic dentistry

Sunday, March 9th, 2008
Q. Hello Ive just come across your site on the internet and see that the section for insurance for cosmetic dentistry is under development I am considering having some cosmetic dentistry but I am wondering if you know of any insurance plans that I could take out to help cover the cost which Ive been told will be around £4000

A. Dear S,

In general elective treatment like cosmetic dentistry is not covered for by dental insurance“>insurance. The only possible exception would be following an accident (in a car crash for example).

Many practices have other ways to make this treatment affordable. Within my practice we have a number ways to help our patients ranging from interest free over a year to interest bearing over 2 to 5 years.
