Best solution to fix new bite?

Q. Hello Dr Moore, I am 42 years old. I had my mouth half full with crowns by 20 yrs old. By 34, many were needing to be replaced. I begged the dentist to give me an upper plate. I made a good case and I got it. He made me 4 or 5 before I got a good fit. I still have to use a large amount of Fixodent daily to keep it in. Now, at 42 I have had most of my bottom teeth extracted and Im down to 5 in the front. THere are no other teeth/replacements on the bottom at all. The plan is to remove the 5th tooth and I will be left with 4 in the front, and get a partial bottom plate. And make a new top plate to fix the new bite. How will the teeth in the back stay down? I will need to glue down with fixodent? Will it somehow hook on to my front teeth? People Ive known with this, had hooks onto back teeth which I do not have. Please let me know. At this point I just want to be able to chew again.

A. Anything put into the lower jaw will help you to chew although a denture is very difficult to wear if there are only a few teeth to anchor it in place. You might want to consider a denture held in place with dental implants this maybe your best solution in the lower jaw in the long term

Is it possible to have implants where I had 2 of my teeth extracted?

Q. i want to have 2 possibly 3 dental implants these are to fill a gap where i had 2 back teeth extracted many years ago,the remainder of my teeth are excellent and i have only 1 filling in a back tooth on the other side of my mouth.can you fore see any problems arising,also can you advise me of the costs for the treatment. A. It is difficult to give you exact ideas without seeing you. If the space is in the bottom jaw then it really just depends on how much bone is available for the implants. If it is the top jaw it can be more complicated as there is a sinus(pocket of air) in the back of your mouth. This can mean you may need a bone grafting (adding) treatment first. Make sure you find a good cosmetic / implant dentist who can carry out these procedures. You may not need 3 implants and could even have 2 implants and have 3 teeth supported from them.

Can I have implants done on payment plan?

A. hi michelle, there are many practices including mine which offer payment plans interest free and low interest. the cost for fixed teeth per arch to replace a denture ranges from about £10000, to £15000. the best thing would be to book a free consultation think about how much you could afford monthly and we will discuss the right plan of action for your budget. hope this is helpful.

I m interested in permanent fangs which one is better option veneers or implants?

Q. I am interested in permanent fangs. I’ve heard of two options– one where you can have your teeth sanded down to a certain point, and have veneers placed over them, and they would be like that, permanent, for 15 or so years before they needed to be replaced. And then the more expensive sort– titanium rod implants where the actual bone is modified to give VERY permanent-no-changing-your-mind-later fangs. Is there any more infortmation on these? More specifically, I’d like to know about the former, because I am interested in having it done. Are these permanent to the point where they will not fall off even eating tough things such as steak? To sleep with the

m on, and have them until the 15 years or so is up? Can you give any more infortmation about these, and if you do them? For how much, if so, and every fifteen years, will I have to pay again? And in the event that I may want to switch over from these to the titanium rod fangs– could I? Thank you.

Could you advise on whether I will be able to straighten teeth after implants?

Q. I have been advised that I a lower molar needs to be extracted and replaced with an implant. Can you please advise whether I would still be able to wear braces to straighten the rest of my teeth when I have this implant? I mainly need to straigthen the upper teeth but have been advised that the lower teeth also need to be straightened to correct my bite.

Can I hav crowns done on my upper jaw in nhs?

Q. i want to know if NHS will suport me in my circumstances.I start a full muoth restauration at private dentist last yaer but cant aford anymore.MY SITUATION CHANGE i M on long term incapacity benefit,have HC2 certificate.Basicaly i have manage to put six implants on my upper jaw and still have four teeths left who requier crawns.do you thik Nhs will help to finish upper part because I need six abutments.I can’t eat properly ,I lost alots off weights ,i have constantly pain.I have the implants one year ago

A. You will need to register with an NHS dentist to see if this can be continued on the NHS

What I could do to get my extracted tooth replaced?

Q. hello, I have just visited my dentist to-day,I have a tooth were there is only the front part left my dentist say’s he is going to remove that front of the tooth as there is a bit of leekage in it,I don’t want to get it taken out as my smile will be ruined and im very fussy about my teeth are there any other suggestions of what i could do to get it replaced without costing a fortune,any advice would be helpful.

A. Hi
Plesae do not worry as you do have options to replace the gap when your tooth has been removed. The best options would be an implant, however this would be the most expensive option. There is also the option of a bridge, which would involve preparing the teeth on either side for crowns, and then the laboratory would create attach a false tooth to the two crowns to create a three unit bridge. Your final optin would be a partial denture, which would be removable. I hie this helps.

Q. I am about to have lower front pincer tooth extracted, can you please advice on what to get, a partial denture or a bridge and what type. My dentist has not explained the options, please can you help me decide I am at my wits end with worry. As soon as possible.

A. A denture is the quickest and simplest method to fill the gap. I would recommend this for immediately after having the tooth removed, after this you could have a bridge or an implant if you want a permanently fixed in tooth.

My root filling has gone wrong can I hv an implant replaced?

Q. Upper right incisor. I have a crown on metal post from 30 yrs ago. The crown was replaced 15 yrs ago. My root filling has gone wrong, x ray shows the root filling to have moved. I am recommended to have a apicectomy with an endodontic surgeon. Would it be better to remove this root and have an implant?
