I Have Had My Back Teeth Removed. Would A Valplast Denture Be A Suitable Option Or Do I Need Teeth To Hold It In Place?

Monday, October 27th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I need your help or advice. I have had all my back teeth removed on the left side of my mouth and I had a partial denture fitted today, would I be able to have valpast denture though as I have no back teeth to hold it in place. I do not like the feeling of this bulky plastic in my mouth and I’m gagging when I try to talk. I would like to try this other flexible treatment but I am unsure if I need other teeth the same side to hold it in for me. Thank you in advance for your reply.

I Have Four Impacted Wisdom Teeth. Should I Have One Removed Even Though It’s Likely To Cause Root Resorption?

Thursday, October 16th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I have two questions, the first regarding an implant: Is there any risk of nerve damage even with the use of a CT scan?  And one when it comes to the wisdom teeth: I am 23 years old and I have 4 mesial impacted wisdom teeth. I believe that they are fully surrounded by bone. A dental surgeon told me that one of them is causing minor bone damage around the 2nd molar. Is that the equivalent to root resorption? Is this a valid reason for extraction even though bone would have to be taken to extract the wisdom tooth? How much do wisdom teeth typically move at my age and will they likely/inevitably cause root resorption of the 2nd molar since they are impacted and there is not space for them to erupt? Does the likelihood of these problems, justify extracting them now even though I am experiencing no symptoms, just to avoid the increased extraction risks?

My Tooth Is Failing With Gum Recession And Is Attached To My Bridge. What Are My Options?

Tuesday, October 14th, 2014
Q.

Hi Marcus. I lost a central incisor as a child having been knocked off my bike and I’ve had a bridge attached to my other one ever since ( Maryland bridge). I’m now 30 years old and the tooth that’s remaining is failing with gum recession around my remaining central incisor with a dark root and it needs to be extracted. To avoid a bone graft, I’m looking to get both my laterals extracted and implants placed to support 4 unit bridge. Would this be possible for me as I can’t afford bone graft along with a gum tissue graft to correct the effected area. Thank you.

Monday, October 6th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I’m wondering if you can help me? I am 18 years old and I have a milk tooth in front of my mouth which is broken half way down and I was told by my dentist that if I removed the tooth it won’t grow back. I don’t know what to do should I remove it or leave it? Please I need your help or advice. I would be very grateful if you come to my aid. Which cosmetic treatment would help me fix half a tooth?

I’ve Had Some Teeth Knocked Out. What Can Be Done For Me?

Monday, September 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Gambroudes, I’m wondering if you can offer me some advice. I had my two front teeth knocked out when I was a child, after falling off my bike. My teeth are now like
grave stones and I’m not happy with how they look. I decided to try and get
them sorted out for my wedding, but the dentist I saw said they could only be done on a palate. They were done for the wedding, but I couldn’t get use to them properly. Since then
I have had another fall and knocked some more teeth out. My wife is on my case to get what she calls ‘proper teeth’ fitted. What can be done, if anything, for me? Thank you in advance.

My Teeth Are Too Small To See Whenever I Smile. Can Dental Veneers Make Them Longer?

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I need some information. When I smile you cannot see my top set of teeth, they are too small and it really annoys me the way they look. I just want a nice, normal smile. Can veneers be made a little longer to show a set of nice white teeth smile or would false teeth be my only option? If dental implants are my only choice, could you tell me how much they will set me back? I hope you can help me with this. Thank you for listening, I look forward to your reply.

I Have Been Told That I Should Now Have Dentures For My Upper Jaw. I Have A Hypersensitive Gag Reflex. Is There An Alternative?

Tuesday, August 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. I have been battling periodontal disease for twenty five years and I have been told by my dentist that I should now have dentures for my upper jaw. I don’t think having five children has helped me. I am terrified that I won’t cope as I have a hypersensitive gag reflex. Is there any alternative at all? I have exposed roots and feel self conscious. I have a bridge and crowns across my 6 upper front teeth. I have a lot of bone loss, especially on the top right hand side. Due to neglect my oral hygiene as a child was very poor. I have worked very hard in adulthood to maintain good oral hygiene. I am a 56 year old non smoker.

I Need To Change My Smile But My Credit History Is Poor. Could I Still Pay Monthly?

Thursday, July 31st, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr. Riten.
I have a big problem with my teeth. I saw in your website that you can do same day implants, which is really good.
My problem is that my credit history isn’t really good. Would it be possible to pay monthly without searching my credit history? Having a nice full set of teeth is my dream. I have a full time job, and my monthly salary is good and as full my teeth are important for me I can afford to pay each month. Thank you for your time and answering a question.

Could You Offer Me Any Advice? I Find It Hard To Talk To People As I’m Embarrassed Over My Missing Teeth.

Wednesday, July 30th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Riten. I have lots of broken teeth at the back and some are missing. I have not gone to the dentist for years as I’m so embarrassed about them. They started getting bad after I had my first child I now have 6 children. I have been in a relationship for a few years and I have never kissed him, also I don’t really talk to people as I don’t want them to see my teeth. When I do have to talk to people I put my head down. I’m 35 years old. I’m so depressed and down and to be honest I find it hard to be happy any more. I don’t know what to do. Could you offer any advice?
