One of my teeth is a crown, I bleached my teeth now it really stands out, what can I do?

Friday, February 4th, 2011
Q.

Hi! One of my front teeth is a crown which is 12 years old. I have noticed recently that it’s beginning to look slightly different to the natural tooth. I mentioned this to my dentist and he said that it’s my own teeth that have darkened over time with age (I am 53). He suggested whitening my front 6 teeth with the bleaching gel. I used as he instructed bleaching 5 of the teeth leaving out bleaching of the crown. However after 6 days I noticed that my 5 natural teeth had whitened really well but unfortunatedly have now made the crown look yellower than it was before. I have paid £99 for this treatment and think that the only way to get the crown to match my natural tooth is to get the crown replaced. Also do you think I Will loose my £99 seeing that it has been unsucessful?

One of my teeth is twisted, my dentist wants to remove it but i’m not sure if its worth it?

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011
Q.

My crown on tooth #19 needs to be replaced due to a large cavity under it. Tooth #20 is twisted by 90 degrees. My dentist wants to pull it and give me a bridge. The tooth doesn’t bother me and isn’t seen anyway; but my dentist says if I ignore it then it will eventually create other problems and may even end up breaking. Does this make since? I hate to have that work done if he is just being overly cautious.

After 6 years I dislodged one of my front caps chewing–I want to have it reglued however my dentist has retired and no longer lives here at the end of the world–other dentist say come in we’ll x-ray, etc. I just want my tooth reglued. How long does the glue last? Can I use superglue on it? I want it done now.

I am having a dilemma, whether to get implants or find a cheaper less drastic solution?

Monday, January 31st, 2011
Q.

I am about to embark on some
expensive orthodentistry but havnt
decided what or who yet.

My problem is this.

I have a full row of top teeth – crowned
bridged – and the odd one of my own.
They have served me well but now
i a 61 the gums have receded &
and the stumps inside the crowns
r rotted giving an ugly black margin
between gum and tooth on about
6 of the teeth.

Bottom row – many removed teeth
hidden by a prosthesis denture
which shows silver”’ claw’ when i
smile widely. Bottom solution i
believe is dental implants. BUT
question like answering now is:
Is there anything less drastic n
expensive than implants to hide
decay in the gap on top row?

I have had one tooth refilled a number of times and now some of the healthy tissue is breaking off, what can I do?

Monday, January 31st, 2011
Q.

Hi there. I’m only 18 but one of my teeth had to be refilled a number of times, and now has a temporary filling. Now however some of the healthy tooth tissue is breaking off with relative eas and there is hardly any of it left. I’m worried if I go back to my dentist that he will have to drill this out, resulting in the whole tooth falling apart. Is it possible this will happen andf if so what can I do about it?

I have a gap in my front teeth, I am reluctant to get crowns as I am only 21 but worry a brace would not be enough, what do you think?

Friday, January 28th, 2011
Q.

I have a 1cm gap between my front teeth but all the rest of my teeth are straight and line up. I went to see a dentist about getting the gap closed but was told by using braces he would have to move all my teeth forward to close the gap and that may not work or he could cut down my teeth and close it with crowns but he would be reluctant to do that as im only 21. So i came out of the appointment having been offered no solution. Is there any way i could get the gap closed and keep my natural teeth?

Friday, January 28th, 2011
Q.

I currently have six teeth in top front that have previously had root canals done to them. What is the best way to improve them, they were never crowned or cap. One has a temporary cap but all the rest has had cosmetic work done to them. What do you suggest?
