Can I Get a Refund on a Crown That Looks Wrong?

Monday, February 16th, 2015
Q.

Good morning. I recently had a crown done on my front tooth as it was becoming grey in colour due to a root canal. I had the root canal over a year ago and it hasn’t given me any trouble since then but the aesthetic look of it was declining. The crown is horrible – the colour is wrong and the tooth was filed down too much on the end so it is shorter than my other front tooth – I also have a minor lisp now. It doesn’t look like my tooth. I also don’t know if I am within my rights to get a refund as the tooth is so wrong. I’m terrified I am now stuck with a horrible looking tooth, what can i do?

I Plan To Have Crowns To Replace My Veneers. Could You Recommend A Decent Dental Practice For This?

Monday, July 28th, 2014
Q.

Dear Dr Gambroudes,

I have had veneer treatments several times in my two front teeth.

Before I was six, I was brought up in a place with very high level of fluoride in the drinking water and I developed fluoriosis, especially on the front teeth. When I was around 17, cavities were found in the two front teeth and as they were so bad, I had to have the roots removed.

The veneer treatments were on top of all the above conditions. I plan to have crowns to replace the veneers as the colour never lasts long and there are cracks on the surface as well. I wonder if you could recommend me some good dental practice clinics as well as suggest what materials I should use for crowns.

Thank you very much.

Best wishes.

Do You Know Why My Dentist Refuses To Give Me A Bridge Instead Of A Partial Denture?

Friday, July 11th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I had a tooth removed which was crowned because of an on-going infection and I have a crowned tooth one side and a soon to be crowned tooth the other side. Do you know why my dentist refuses to use a bridge rather than a partial denture? I have looked at implants but I have osteoporosis in the family and I’m unsure. Both my dentist and my hygienist have said it would be unsuitable but I was hoping for a bridge. Thank you for getting in touch.

After Having A Root Canal And A Crown Fitted Shortly Afterwards, I’m Experiencing Discomfort. Has It Failed?

Monday, February 10th, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew. I have a problem that I would like to discuss with you. I have just had a root canal done and after almost 2 weeks everything had settled with the temporary dressing, no pain. Then I went back a week later for a crown to be fitted and now I’m experiencing a mild pain and the crown is quite sensitive to touch when pushing on the side. It’s not particularly pain just a persistent discomfort, please help. Should I tell my dentist? Does it sound like it failed? I’m terrified, I also has the nerve removed on this same tooth. I’ve found the whole procedure has made me very depressed. Thank you.

Can the NHS help me with crowns and veneers following an accident?

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012
Q.

Hi,
I was involved in an RTA last February, I lost 1 tooth and had a lot of damage to my other 4 front teeth. The NHS dentist I went to did (in my opinion) a really poor job. They patched them up with filler, using two different types so they don’t even match! The sizes are wrong and the bridge he put in sticks out like a sore thumb. I had root canal on both my upper two front and and the damage on one was half the tooth missing. I’ve had to go back as the filler has come off twice. Surely I need crowns or veneers? I cannot afford to go private. Where do I stand getting this sorted on the NHS? I’m 31 and have taken really good care of my teeth, check ups every 6 months/brushing/flossing. I’ve never even needed a filling so this is all very upsetting.

My bite alignment is a little unequal, would a dental crown make my jaw look worse?

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012
Q.

I am 23 years old and my bite alignment is a little unequal, though it doesn’t look odd. I had an injury some months back and my front teeth had got damaged. I was planning for capping of my front teeth. But, my concern is that will the capping/crowning make my jaw bulge out as the cap is placed above the tooth, so since my upper and lower jaw is little disinclined, the capped tooth would look odd and more bulging?
