Monday, October 11th, 2010
Q.
am just wondering how effective sedation is? i am very scared of the dentist but after having terrible toothache for a week i had no choice but to go he told me the tooth needed taking out and i calmed myself enough for him to inject the gum and loosen the tooth then after 5 attempts of removing the tooth told me he could not do it i was sent home in agony and shock now i know i cant try this again without sedation..or could i even be put to sleep?,

I don’t want dental phobia to ruin my smile. Can you recommend a dentist?

Thursday, September 16th, 2010
Q.
I have always had a phobia about dentists but have managed it for the past 20 years however after a recent bout of depression am now absolutley terrified.I have recently plucked up the courage to go the the hygienist as I know how important it is and have not been as good at looking after my gums (have had problems with them for years) to get back on track, I have lots of crowns and really try hard to look after them as best I can. I was left with the impression I will eventually loose all my teeth to gum disease which I know i have to come to terms. However I am willing to do what it takes to keep them for as long as I can. I would really like to find a dentist I can trust bit dont know where to start looking. I live in Stamford Lincolnshire, but would be willing to travel to the right dentist. Do you know where I could begin to start looking for one? I dont know many people in the area so asking around is not really an option. I would be very grateful if you could help, also am thinking of getting some private insurance but dont know where to start!! Sorry this is long winded would be grateful for any advice. Thank you,

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009
Q.
I had my tooth out recently but upon extraction the tooth broke leaving the roots still in my gum, i have now been referred to a specialist to have the remainder out. It says in the letter that i will be under sedation, what does that actually mean i am a very nervous patient and suffer with panic attacks. Can you help?

Thursday, November 12th, 2009
Q.
Hi After years of neglect ,all my top teeth have badly decayed ,and broken off . Im so embarrassed about this ,and hence cant face a dentist because of the shame that I let my teeth get into this state. Unfortunately I cant afford private ,so will have to go nhs , I would like to know what is available ,as I know I am probably going to have to have them all taken out and have dentures, but I have been told nhs wont cover this? Also ,what would you advise me to tell the dentist before my appointment ,as I want to let him know the state my mouth is in before he actually sees them ,im so depressed about this and really need some help .

I have had series of teeth problem causing tooth decay

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009
Q.
I’m quite young, Actually just 21! I used to always hate going to the dentist when i was little so i had Pretty teeth in the front but horrible ones in the back. When i finally went to one when i was 16 he did 4 root canals on 2 of my back teeth on both sides. I had medicaid at the time and didn’t tell me that medicaid wouldn’t pay for the rest so basically i couldnt do anything about it. From then on i had to get 2 back teeth pulled (on the same side) which doesn’t bother me.. I’m goin to have to get the other teeth pulled soon and some on top in the back. My question is. well my front teeth are decaying and almost gone. What are my options that i can get done. I will save up the money to pay for it but just trying to get info on what i should be getting done! and its about 4 teeth up front! Thanks so much for your time!

Is there a way to get me relaxed during my dental treatment?

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009
Q.
I have an abnormal physcological fear of dentists which is a result of a face slap by a dentist when I was a child (he pushed a sore tooth with his finger and I bit his finger) The last time I visited a dentist was 1972 they pumped me full of “happy gas” to try and get me to relax, I burned it up quicker than they could pump it in. When I get hurt I become violent, subsequently I have to be put under with a general anesthetic. My teeth need to be sorted out and some implants out in for ones that are missing and others that will have to be removed, but feel it would have to be done under proper hospital op conditions Is this possible please.
