How Much Would Teeth Whitening and Six Crowns Cost?

Thursday, September 24th, 2015
Q.

Hi there,

I am looking to get overall teeth whitening and then 6 crowns fitted to my upper row of teeth. I am researching at the moment and wondered if you could help me understand what kind of price to expect? So far I have a quote for £5,500 but I think this seems very high so wanted to get some other opinions. Also, is there anywhere you recommend for this treatment in the Godalming area?

Thanks.

Can I Get a Crown on the NHS?

Tuesday, April 21st, 2015
Q.

I am over 65 years old and have to have a crown replaced because when it was originally put in 10 years ago, apparently it was put on the wrong way around by the dentist. My current dentist tells me now it will cost me £500.00 to replace this tooth. The tooth has given me aggravation for all these years but I thought that it was either because that was the fit or it would settle down, but I’ve not been able to chew properly for years. What would you advise? Do you think I can get this done on the national health service? Any advice would be helpful.

Is It Fair That My Dentist Can Charge An Extra £300 For Each Crowns Lab Fee?

Friday, June 20th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I have a dental discount plan which covers dental services at a discounted price. I recently had six crowns placed (lower front, 22-27).
Standard price quoted was £1,100 and discounted price was £428.
However my dentist charged me an additional lab fee of £300 for each crown. Is this correct? I heard that crowns include lab fees.
My dentist charged me a “lab fee” in addition to the cost of the crown. I thought the cost of the crown would include lab fees associated with the crown. Any information on this would be very helpful as I currently don’t know where to turn. Thank you.

My Crowns Need Replacing As The Metal Is Showing Through. What’s The Price For 6 Or 8 New Ones?

Thursday, March 13th, 2014
Q.

Dear Dr Moore. I have my front 6 top teeth crowned and the crowns need replacing as the metal is showing at the top and they look false now. They were done for cosmetic reasons as my teeth were discoloured and I was very self conscious and rarely smiled.

They have been wonderful but recently I have become aware of them looking very artificial in photos.  My teeth underneath are still strong and healthy according to the X-rays,

What is the price for 6 or 8 (2 new to blend in better) new ones. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I hope you can help.

I’m Worried That I’ll Keep Having To Pay For Crowns, Would I Be Better With A Permanent Metal One?

Wednesday, September 18th, 2013
Q.

Hello, Dr Moore. I’ve previously had treatment for a porcelain crowning fitted onto my bottom left incisor, but after a year it has completely shattered off, the capping I had before this was a lot stronger, but I fear now that I’m 18 that I have to pay for a new one, and I’m told that the crowns are only meant to last for a few years and it’s a 300 pound replacement each time which I would struggle to afford. So I’ve come to the conclusion that I would rather have a more permanent metal replacement of some sort. What would be best type to get and how much would it cost me? Also what do you think would be the cheapest? Thanks, I really hope you can answer my question.

Can My Partner Get His Treatment For Free?

Tuesday, April 30th, 2013
Q.

My partner has been having many issues with his teeth and when the problem worsened recently, we decided to do something about it. So, he went to see someone. My partner has been to his dentist a few times recently as his teeth are cracking and chipping. After going to the dentist, his dentist has filled them in but now for some bizarre reason, with in a week they are chipping and cracking again. His dentist said it’s because his bite is out and suggested he could have his top 3 teeth crowned and he would have to pay £1300 for this as he said its cosmetic. Do you think its cosmetic? as its causing him discomfort and can be very sensitive we thought it could be done free of charge do you agree?
