Q.
A crown fell off i have since had a new crown fitted but it is so sensitive i cannot eat or drink on it even cleaning it hurts my dentist wanted to remove the crown but could not so he has recommended that the tooth is removed i feel that this would not have had to be done if the dentist had not messed up the preparation of this tooth – baring in mind a crown had been in place for 20+ yrs

I have an upper denture and lost a lot of teeth I can not afford dental implants

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008
Q.
Hello I have a partial upper denture and have lost a lot of teeth in the lower jaw. All the remaining teeth that are left were crowned approx 10 years ago. I cannot afford a lot of implants but am wondering if implanted retained dentures would be a possibility. I had a panoramic xray last year and that confirmed bone loss in the upper jaw. I am 53 years old and suffer from diabetes [insulin controlled]. I also take other medication, details of which can be provided if necessary. I would be most grateful for your opinion on what you would consider to be the best treatment for me.

My son had missing front teeth can he have dental implants on NHS

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008
Q.
My 16 year old son has his front two teeth but the teeth either side of these are missing (they have never come through). As well as this all his teeth are quite small, so I am worried that bridges would not be suitable. He has a brace at the moment to keep his teeth in place. Is there anywhere that he could have Implants on the NHS?

I have a dead tooth after root canal im in mubai

Monday, June 30th, 2008
Q.
Hi Doctor I visited the dentist for a filling and during that my dentist told me that my upper left first incisor looked dead to her. When I was young I had braces and probably that did some damage. There is a light vertical crack mark on the tooth but i used to feet no pain or discomfort. My dentist took an x ray and performed an hot-cold test on the tooth and since I had no sensation in that tooth, she suggested that I root canal it to prevent damage to it and the neighboring teeth. After the root canal which was performed a year back, I am noticing that the teeth is turning dark — I am not too sure if I should get it crowned because it is the front tooth and I have heard people complaining that the white enamel on the crown sometimes just breaks. Is there any other way I can whiten the tooth? I also want to point out that when my dentist performed the root canal, I had no pain even when no anesthesia was used. So I also have doubts if the root canal at all was required. I am very worried. Please advise me. I shuttle between Mumbai and Delhi for work, and if you are aware of any good doctor in these cities I would be very obliged if you could pass me their contacts. In case age has anything to do with teeth, I would like to tell you that I am 25yrs old. Thanks

My back tooth, #18, had a root canal. Instead of getting a crown I had a filing. My tooth cracked in the back, in middle. Is there anyway to save my tooth?

My teeth don't show when I smile and my top tooth needs braces

Thursday, May 29th, 2008
Q.
I have two questions:
1) The tooth adjacent to my middle top two teeth is at an angle and allows air though when I trying to say ‘s’ and as a result makes it difficult for me to speak correctly. I am 42 so can this tooth be straightened with a brace or would it require a crown or are there other alternatives?2) When smiling my teeth don’t show, I think I have short gums. Can anything be done so that my teeth show when I smile? Many thanks.

If my root canal doest work will I loose the bridge that is fitted to it

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
Q.
I have recently had root canal work on one tooth and the tooth next to this had been removed due to previous failed root canal work. So far the recent root canal work seems to have worked although I do feel some discomfort from time to time, I am about to have bridgework to rectify the missing tooth. My concerns are what if the root canal work hasn’t worked sufficiently what options am I left with once the bridge is fitted and I’ve paid all this money for a bridge to be fitted over a troublesome tooth would I have to get the bridge and tooth removed. At the moment the gum around the tooth just seems permanently swollen is that normal?? root canal procedure was done twice and almost a month ago now, I suffer from TMJ could this be slowing down the healing process as I’ve notice the temporary crowns I have over my teeth have been ground down?

My front tooth has moved me dentist says I need a veneer

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
Q.
Hi, One of my two front teeth has slowly changed position over the years. It has moved both slightly outward and slightly over the neighboring front tooth. A dental hospital has recommended to my dentist that all that is needed is a veneer on the neighboring tooth, to balance things out but I’m not convinced. i’m thinking about a crown, which he agrees is a better solution but keeps saying I would be losing tooth tissue. What do you think ?
