Is My Husband’s Dental Issue an Aesthetic One?

Monday, March 30th, 2015
Q.

Hi. My husband’s 3rd tooth from the front has come out, it was a crown. The NHS dentist said he can’t have a bridge on the NHS as it’s asthetic – you can see it when he talks and smiles and it’s changing his speech. Is this correct as band 3 on the NHS says bridges are included. Surely it’s up to him if he feels it’s affecting him, and he pays for dental treatment? Can they fob him off saying it’s an aesthetic thing? It is at the front so he feels it’s noticeable and also the one next to it could lean in the gap. Thanks.

My Son’s Crown Fell Off. Should He Get Another Crown or an Implant?

Friday, January 30th, 2015
Q.

Good afternoon. My son who is 24 fell as a child and broke one of his two front teeth. A local dentist gave him an amateur-ish crown which has never looked right. Yesterday it fell off and he isn’t sure if the way forward is a new crown or an implant. However, money is a slight problem and I don’t know how much it would cost or who could do the procedure . He is speaking at my mum’s funeral on February 3rd and is devastated that it will look dreadful! Please can you advise? I’m worried mother as you hear so many dreadful stories of cosmetic surgery going wrong.

My Crown Keeps Falling Out And Would Need A Denture If It Falls Out Again. How Much Would It Cost To Have Implants For 3/4 Teeth?

Tuesday, August 12th, 2014
Q.

Hi there. I have just been to my dentist and had one of my crowns re-fixed yet again, probably for the sixth time. I was told that the dentist that originally fixed the crown, didn’t check that the post was long enough and that’s why it falls out on occasions. Next to the crown is a bridge that is fixed to a now cracked tooth so it wobbles, the bridge has wobbled for about 10 years only coming out once. I asked the dentist this morning what it if comes out again, they said that they won’t cement it in again and I would have to have a denture, which fills me full of dread. I am a pensioner and don’t have a large income and wondered if there would be an alternative on the NHS, or how much would it cost to have implants for 3/4 teeth? My own teeth are shrinking so next to the crown it’s considerably smaller.

I Recently Had A Fall And Lost Three Crowns. I’m Afraid That If I Visit The Dentist That My Teeth Will Be Removed. What Should I Go?

Tuesday, February 11th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark, I fell down some steps recently and three of my crowns at the front have fallen out. They were on pins, (two of them have the pins on but one of them has no pin on and no tooth it’s just flat to the gum-line). What will the dentist need to do? I am terrified of the dentist and I am really stressed out. My biggest fear is that I will have to have my teeth removed as they are not the best I have quite a bit of decay. I’m really unsure about what I should do and I hope your advice can help me. Thanks.

My Crown Has Fallen off the Implant, Do I Have To Have The Treatment Done Again?

Friday, August 2nd, 2013
Q.

I had an implant and crown put in three years ago never had any problem until yesterday morning. I was eating and the crown fell off the implant. I found the crown and the smell was so bad I had to run brush my teeth and rinse my mouth out. I noticed that the implant post is still in there but the crown I have in my hand, Do I have to go and have the procedure done all over again from the beginning or will they just reattached the crown to the implant again? Please help as I am unsure whether I have to pay the 5000 dollars again or not.

My Crowns Keep Falling Out, Is It The Cement They Are Using?

Wednesday, April 10th, 2013
Q.

My tooth got infected and I went through hell and almost lost the tooth. this one has a root canal in it and I am getting disgusted . the dentist said it will take 3 weeks for my tooth.i paid half already and  I sure don’t want to go through like last time..I already know if they continue to use the same cement that don’t hold, ill be going back more times to get it put back. are these dentist afraid to use stronger cement ,I have almost all my teeth with crowns and  I had crowns put in 35 years ago by a good polish dentist and I never had a temporary fall out . tell me whats the problem with these new dentist. and i never had a crown fall out. I feel like moving on to a new dentist give me some advise here maybe I can tell the dentist what cement to use .3rd visit coming up to have a new temporary maid since I swallowed the old one.

Should I Get An Implant To Replace My Missing Crown?

Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hello, my upper left front tooth is crowned, has been for the past 7 years, i recently have had root canal on it, and in between the procedures the crown fell off as the Stump was drilled away in the procedure, I have been given a temporary post, with the intention to of having a perm post installed as my tooth below the gum line is in good condition and in tact, the issue is, that the two teeth on my lower jaw directly below the are slightly overlapped ( even though i had braces as a kid, so they must have slipped back)
This overlap is hitting the back of the crown when i bite, thus making the tooth a little loose,
I need to see what my options are as my dentist is going down the post route, where as i am wondering whether an implant would be a better option? or because of the overlap on the bottom teeth, i would need to get this addressed first? and still go with the post option.
Thank you.

Do You Think I Would Be Able To Get A Bridge With The Condition Of My Teeth?

Tuesday, March 26th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr. Wondering if you could help me, this is probably fairly standard for you so shouldn’t be too hard a query. Basically, I have a tooth that I believe now needs extracting because I have lost the crown that was on it and I have just left it over quite a period of time. I not been to the dentist because, to be honesty with you I am scared of the pain and haven’t really been wanting to go through it.. One of the teeth next to it is in great condition and the other has filling, some of which has also fallen away. So now you have a little context, I was wanting to know, can I have a bridge do you think? I don’t want to have false teeth and certainly can’t afford a cosmetic crown. How much ( if I am able to have a bridge) will it cost?
