I am also constantly looking after my pet dog who requires 24 hour home care due to an illness. Is the dental cerment the best temparly thing to use until I get to a dentist. The chip is at the awkward side. It is important that I protect this tooth is that correct. Any advise please. Kind regards

Q. i want to remove all of my teeth. i dont want bs i just want it done. how much will such an operation cost me?
A. this might sound like BS but it all depends on the number of teeth that need removing and what is put in their place. I would budget from around £50 per tooth.

Q. About 2 weeks ago, I was hit with a football. I experienced pain and noticed my tooth was loose in every way. Quickly, I braced my tooth using floss and other tooth on opposite side. I have not, and today used front teeth for anything. After a few days,I experienced no pain and sensitivity was reduced. Hot and cold has no effect. Considering that I have very good teeth, 8 or 9 days later, I knew something wasn’t right. I went to my local emergency dental clinic. After the Dr. evaluated x-ray, he said I did the right thing (bracing). The “right part” of root on my lower incisor is cracked. He noticed no inflammation. He wants me to keep bracing and schedule appt. with my Dentist in 2-3 weeks. He said to look 4 color change and on that later appt. with my Dentist, they will run test… Can you please explain the test? Also, I know teeth are (avascular), what is it that I’m hoping for? I’m so upset and fear the worst. If needed, regardless price, I will have to get an implant asap. Please explain how my tooth may be saved? Thank you
A. It really depends on where the tooth has fractured if it looks like it needs to be replace an implant is the best procedure, make sure you find a good dentist who does a lot of implants.

Q. I just started whitening my teeth with 44% carbamide peroxide gel I bought online. I’ve used it 4 times total… once a day for 5 minutes for the last 4 days. After the second use, I noticed my front tooth seemed to be chipped even though I hadn’t hit it on anything. Two more uses later, and the chip seems to be getting bigger. Everything I’ve read online says carbamide peroxide whiteners are safe and the worst side effect is tooth sensitivity, which I haven’t experienced. What is going on with my tooth?! Is it from the whitener??
A. I’m not sure whats happening here but I would advise you to go to your dentist to get it checked out in case it is something to do with the gel

Q. I’m twelve and I chipped my canine tooth on gum. My first question, I want to know if it will hurt to get it repaired? My second question, is how did I chip my tooth on gum??
A. Generally a little repair will not hurt – you can always have it numbed if it does. I do not know how you managed to chip your tooth on gum unless the gum was very old

Q. Hi, I recently chipped one of my front teeth, and yesterday had it filled in (I think with a resin). Since then, I’ve noticed a sticky gunge collecting around it-similar to saliva, but thicker and sticky. Is this normal due to how recently the filling was put in, or do I need to go back to my dentist.
A. if it doesn’t resolve in few weeks I would get it checked out. Rob

Q. I recently broke a piece off a back tooth on which I had root canal treatment a few years ago. Both of my front teeth are crowned and I was also experiencing a little “vibration” in one of them. On visiting my dentist yesterday and after taking x-rays, she says the root canal treatment I had years ago was “incomplete” (it was done at the same practice but by my previous dentist who has now left) but there is no decay so recommends just a crown as there is not enough tooth left to fill. As for the front crown I have an infection for which she is recommending root canal treatment and a new crown. She has quoted me £450 per crown plus £360 for the root canal treatment Initally I thought this sounded very expensive but after a bit of research have accepted these are probably the right prices – however my main concern is that the new crown will match the one next to it? I should be grateful for your opinion on the treatment recommended and the price – and is there a chance they won`t match? Thanks you for your time.
A. To answer your last point first – to match a new crown to adjacent old crowns or teeth is extremely hard to do. There is a chance of an incorrect colour match. Personally I do such treatment and usually manage to get a great result but this is by colour correcting the crown at the time of fit using a porcelain furnace in my surgery. This is very unusual in dentistry and despite all these efforts the colour match may not be “perfect”. As far as price goes the fees you have been quoted are very reasonable. In fact possibly to low if you are looking for a perfect match as the dentist is likely to have to make adjustments to the color over several visits.

Q. All of a sudden my front teeth are chipping what is the cause of this
A. Most common causes are (1) tooth: tooth contact, (2) tooth : other ( E.g. finger nail / pen chewing etc)
Clenching , grinding and lack of supporting back teeth all make it worse.
I suggest you investigate preventing further damage, possibly a spilnt might be appropriate. Then repair the damage.

Q. I have over-crowded and crooked teeth (dracula type of teeth). Would invisalign work for me or should I go for cosmetic dentistry? I am also a nervous patient and have a phobia for dentist.
A. If you’re nevous of the dentist Invisalign is a great treatment. Its simple to set up and with only a minor amount of dentistry, great results can be acheived. Have a look at our website: invisalignguide.co.uk

Q. I am 47 years old and have not been to a dentist for 27 years after a quite terryfying experience. I have lost alot of teeth and apart from a few at the front bottom and top the others remaining are broken or decaying. I am scared stiff of the dentist and get panicky just thinking about it. Could you give me some idea of how I will accepted if I go. I do not want to be lectured as i am well aware of my situation. What I need is a sympathic and calming approach but I am really scred this may not be the case.
A. When I see patients such as yourself I am certainly not judgmental but concerned about treating your mouth back to health. For patients who are scared of dentistry there are a number of ways to help you through the process. In my experience most patients who are as scared as you find IV sedation a great help. They find that this technique makes them very relaxed during the treatment and also they have little memory of the event. This also allows me to carry out the best treatment possible. If this is of interest to you please contact my practice for an appointment. i look forward to meting you.

Q. Hi there. I have recently chipped one of my front teeth. I do not wish to get it filed down as my other front tooth is a crown, and this would only make the crown look bigger! Is it possible to have tooth bonding on this front tooth? It is a small thin chip, and only noticable up close. If so does this need to be done privately or can it be carried out on the NHS? thank you for your time
A. hi if this is purely cosmetic which it sounds like it will be a private treatment . if it is a tiny sliver bonding does not always work but is worth a go if it bothers you

Q. I fell down from the byke and my big right upper lip is 30% broke. and i feel very small part of my teeth is left in lower lip. because my lip is tight over there. it’s doubtfull as per the x-ray report. how can i ensure, whether tooth part is left or not in my lip. and what king of problems i may face if it remain in the lip.
A. If the x-ray shows that there is no tooth fragment in the lip then it is probably scarring you are feeling which should improve in the next few weeks.

Q. Hello, Quick question, I lost one front tooth due to domestic violence and other has a hair line fracture and apparently the root did not develop so the only support it has is the gum. I can’t afford to go private so I have no choice but to go to a Dental teaching hospital, the only one I know of is Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital. Are they the only ones in London? And is the risk worth going to a teaching hospital. I’m worried I may come out worse than when I went in.
A. No guarantees can be given in dentistry but you will be treated according to standard protocols. If Guys accept you I would take the opportunity to have treatment

Q. Hi,hoping you can help-I am a 36 year old woman and have had crowns on my two front teeth for around ten years following an accident where they were chipped. In the last 2 years I have noticed a gap forming in between the teeth which is becoming more noticeable.I have not seen a dentist in 3 years,I have been on an NHS dental waiting list for over 12 months but heard nothing, anyway I am seeing a private dentist on September the 8th and was wondering a,whats making the crowns move? (as I have no pain,or bleeding) b,how much I can expect to pay, depending on what work will be needed.c,whether you can tell me what are my options? I hope you can answer my question as soon as possible.
A. The crowns are probably not moving but the teeth underneath might be. This could be as a result of gum disease causing mibility. Ask the dentist to check this and to take x-rays to check the bone levels around the teeth.

Q. I chipped both my front teeth in an accident when i was 11. Iam now 31, one of the teeth is badly discoloured it has a veneer on it but you can still see its dark, what would you recommend?
A. Probably root treatment of the dark tooth followed by internal bleaching. Veneers may be required later but even if they are the colour matching will be easier

Q. Hi there i have a tooth that is half missing! my dentist wants to do an extraction on it but i keep putting it off, it has started to hurt abit now! but if i go let my dentist extract the remaining tooth will there be any problems duing the extraction? where the tooth has brocken the gum has gone over the the broken part so i think that she is gonna have problems getting it i am more frieghtend of the dentist cutting my gum open! im am terified of going to the dentist ever since a dentist i used to go to messed up one of my teeth.
A.
It sounds as though you do need your tooth removed- please discuss your anxiety with your dentist as the problem of removing the tooth will only increase the more the decay is allowed to grow
