My son fell almost three years ago and he chipped

Sunday, September 21st, 2008
Q.
My son fell almost three years ago and he chipped his front toothe. He was advised to get a root canal and that process lasted about 2 1/2 years. When I finally demanded to get it finished with once and for all, the root canal person sent me to an oral surgeon to do an Apaco and a retrograde filling. during this the oral surgeon came out and told me that the toothe was not able to be repaired and he advised that we pull it. He said we would be in there again within months because it would keep getting reinfected. My son is 11 years old he is very active and is now devastated. We went to his regular dentist who was not at all optimistic about what to do. The oral surgeon recommended a bonding be done the dentist is recommending some flipp thing that he has to take in and out to eat etc…This child is devastated and now is saying he hates his life and is not going anywhere. He has a huge space where his front toothe should be and want to know if the bonding would be better than the flipp thing?

I have chipped both my front teeth as a child

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008
Q.
Dr Caplan I have chipped both my front teeth as a child and have been offered by my dentist when i was pregnant to have them both crowned although i was quite happy with the way my teeth looked with what i think were bridges i agreed to it because he had said that these crowns would last a life time. I have been unhappy with my teeth since they are to large compared with my other teeth and have a different colouring which is very noticable when i smile. i now am always contious of this when i smile. i have asked my dentist if i could have them replaced but he advises that it isnt a good idea because the part of my teeth thats my own will have to be shaped again i will end up with even less of my own teeth. My question is if this is the case and what consequences could i face if i still want to go ahead and have them changed. the other question i have is how do i find out which dentistry is a dentistry with a good reputation?

Friday, August 8th, 2008
Q.
My fiancee bit on his fork the wrong way, and now he feels like his one top tooth and his bottom tooth are scuffed or scratched when he runs his tongue over them. Can he buy something that will fix them, or polish them back to normal? Thanks so much!

i repaired a front tooth that was chipped with bonding

Thursday, July 31st, 2008
Q.
Hi, I just had dental bonding done to repair a front tooth that was chipped on the biting edge – a part of the corner was missing. This occurred about ten years ago and was fixed previously with bonding. The previous results were excellent and lasted 10 years until falling off when I was chewing a pen, but I’m not sure if I’m happy with this result. My previous dentist was amazing, but unfortunately I had to move away from him and just basically got this dentist off a list from my insurance. Where he did the bonding is raised above the surface of my tooth. It almost looks like there is a bump on my tooth if you are close enough, and there seems to me to be quite a pronounced edge between the tooth and bonding. The ‘bump’ issue can also be felt with the fingers in comparison to the next tooth. Also, he made my front teeth significantly closer together somehow. Maybe it’s supposed to be cosmetic, but I can’t get a piece of floss between them without it getting shredded, whereas before the teeth were a normal distance apart (in my opinion). My question is: are these legitimate things to be concerned about after bonding, or are my standards too high? Should I go back to that dentist to get them fixed, or go to someone else?

My dentist was very rude I have cavities and chipped teeth

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008
Q.
Hi there, I’m 24 and have got problems with my teeth that really bring me down. I have several teeth with cavities and which have chipped. I’ve not been registered with a dentist in a while as I’ve moved houses a few times in the past 10 years. I recently registered with a local dentist and visited with the intention to finally sort out my teeth regardless of the cost, I really wanted to save all, if possible of my teeth. The dentist was extremely rude and demanded that he pulled out all of my chewing teeth (molars) on one side as well as a few of my 1st and 2nd molars which I was uncomfortable with, I asked whether he could save them which he was very unwilling to do as it would be expensive (which I didn’t mind) and he didn’t want to do as its time consuming. Besides this he got aggressive and very rude because I was quite determined to keep my teeth. I understand he is an expert but don’t feel he was being fair as he was thinking of saving his own time rather than my needs. I am very upset about the state of my teeth as I feel they are extremely important to me, also I’m getting pain on my gum which I feel could well be an abscess. It hurt about a year ago and seems to have come back and can be quite intense. What would you say is the best option for me? I just feel extremely embarrassed about my teeth and feel very let down. I’m lost as to what to do as if I was to approach another dentist I would be very embarrassed. Any help would be very much appreciated.

My boyfriends front teeth are badly chipped are veneers an option

Sunday, March 9th, 2008
Q.
Hi Julian, I was wondering if you could give me some advice, my boyfriend is 25 and hasn’t been to a dentist for about 6 years and his 2 front teeth are badly chipped and the others aren’t good at all. I think he should contemplate veneers and i was wondering if maybe he is too young to get them and what the average price would be? thank you very much i really appreciate your time. P
