I am 17 years old and was wondering whether, as I recieve my dental care free on the NHS it would be possible to have an ‘Invisalign’ brace fitted for free on this service as well, or would that need to be payed for separately? Thanks

Is Invisalign available on the NHS?
Tuesday, January 11th, 2011My 8-year-old grandson has been told he needs orthodontic treatment, is this available on the NHS and should I get a second opinion?
Tuesday, January 11th, 2011My Grandson who is nearly 8 has teeth growing in all sorts of places and his new ones are coming through without some of the baby teeth having come out yet. His dentist suggested private Orthodontist treatment. They have now assessed him and recommend removal of some teeth as well as braces for 2 years at a cost of £3,000 or more. I think a second opinion should be sought before launching into radical treatment and I thought children would be treated under the NHS. Please let me have your opinion.
My NHS dentist never picked up on problems found by a dentist I visited in Australia – what do you suggest?
Tuesday, January 11th, 2011hi, I have just returned from visiting Australia. Whilst I was there I visited my parents dentist and he was horrified at the state of my teeth due to NHS care. I had been going every three months and 3 days before going to Australia. The UK dentist failed to find 4 fillings, one abcess which was so bad it needed extracting and the tooth next to it needed a huge filling and two loose front teeth which have now been bound! I am now terrified to go back to an NHS dentist and have a 10 year old daughter who they checked and found to have her lower teeth pressing on her upper gum. Anyway, I would like to have my teeth properly looked at to make sure that I do not have gum disease, to assess the loose teeth for possible implants and find out what else is wrong as the Australians ran out of time before we needed to return to the ‘front’. What would you suggest for me and my daughter. Does she need you or an orthodontist and how can I manage my teeth properly if the NHS is failing me so badly.

Can my daughter switch to a private orthodontist despite already having a lower brace fitted on the NHS?
Thursday, January 6th, 2011My 15 year old daughter has just had a metal brace fitted to her lower teeth on the NHS and is due to have one fitted to her upper teeth in January. Having seen the lower one, I would like the top one to be the ceramic tooth coloured type. Can I still now switch to private treatment to have this done?

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011 Hello
I have just returned from our check up at the Dentist. My son is 3 years old. We were told he has very good oral hygeine but has malocclusion. Dentist explained very briefly what this means but i am left very worried about what this means for my son in the future. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’m worried my daughter has the same jaw problem as me, can I stop this?
Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010Hi,
I have a 7 month old baby girl and am worried that when she grows up her bottm jaw will stick out more than her top jaw.
I have this problem and am concerned that she will have the same.
I have noticed lately that when she makes noises her bottm gums show and you cant see her top gums, she talks like she is sticking her bottm gum out.
Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?
My 5 year old son is loosing his enamel. Is there anything we can do?
Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010Hi there. My 5 year old son is missing enamel off his 2 front baby teeth. His peers are starting to comment and I do not want him to be teased. Our nhs dentist says nothing can be done and they won’t remove which I understand but is there anything that can be done privately? Can they be painted with anything or treated in any other way to improve the colour. I do not want his confidence shaken at such a young age. I have looked at the pearl drops paint on veneer product but it shouldn’t be used under 7 and I couldn’t see a difference on my teeth so don’t think it will make a difference on his. I thank you in advance for any advice.
