Hello Dr Hughes. My 15 year old son has just had bridges fitted for two missing teeth either side of front two teeth. He has had two years with braces to get his teeth into the right position for this treatment. Unfortunately, the metal that is now behind his two front teeth makes his teeth look grey, the colour of the metal. Could he have had the bridge made of anything other than metal that wouldn’t show through the teeth, and is it too late to change this?
Thank you.

I’m Not Sure About The Price I’ve Been Quoted For A Ceramic Bridge. Should I Opt For An Implant Instead?
Friday, February 28th, 2014Hello Andrew. I have been quoted by my dentist £1995 for a ceramic bridge ( metal base I think ). It’s for the back teeth on one side, I thought there was one tooth missing but he says there is two missing. This price seems very high to me, it is a private clinic, with a very good reputation. I was originally going to opt for an implant as I had been told by a previous dental practice that a bridge wasn’t a viable option. Can you advise on what would be the best course of action to take next? Thank you for your time.
I Don’t Want My Son To Have Work On His Healthy Teeth. Are There Any Less Extreme Options?
Thursday, September 26th, 2013My son has Hypodontia. He is 16 years old and has completed his orthodontic work. He’s too young for implants and doesn’t want a denture. His clinic has recommended bridges but my dentist says it involves some work on healthy teeth which worries me. My dentist says he will keep work to the healthy teeth to a minimum. He’s entitled to NHS treatment but I understand that private materials, etc, are superior. Any advice would be most welcome!
