My Dental Bridge Feels Grainy Against My Tongue. Can This be Polished Smooth?

Monday, September 8th, 2014
Q.

Hey Dr Hughes. I have just had a 4 tooth dental bridge fitted by my dentist, and the bridge feels great with no pain. However, the texture of the bridge is not smooth, it feels grainy against my tongue, as if there is grit under the glaze. I had 2 front crowns done by the same dentist last year and they feel great, the texture is smooth and glass like. The bridge is on the upper back 4 teeth. This problem is irritating me no end. My question is, can this be polished smooth in my mouth without harming the glaze or should I request a new bridge? Will removing the bridge harm the original teeth underneath? Many thanks.

Can I Get Six Month Smiles Even Though I Have a Bridge?

Friday, September 5th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Gambroudes, I hope this question finds you well. I got a bridge placed on the upper part of my teeth on the left hand side. But I would really like to straighten the teeth on the right hand side now so that my smile is symmetrical. Would Six Month Smiles be a good treatment for me even though I have a bridge on my upper teeth? I just really want to make my teeth straight so that I can smile in my pictures without hesitation, and Six Month Smiles looks like the perfect brace. I’ve looked at other options but it is by far my favourite. Thank you, I look forward to your response and hope you can give me some good advice.

I Had A New Bridge Put In And Whenever I Chew It Hurts. The Temporary One Worked Better. Can I Have It Changed Back?

Thursday, June 19th, 2014
Q.

Hello. I had a root canal done on the lower ring molar and they put the new bridge in. Now chewing and eating on the right side hurts, do you have any suggestions to stop the pain? I believe it’s in the molar where I had the root canal on. The bridge was too high and my dentist was grinding down on my upper bridge and then on the bottom. I been back 3 times and it’s better now. I still feel pain in when I chew on that side and the temporary one seemed like it was a better bridge. Is there any way I could change it back? Thanks.

Are There Credit Opportunities Available For Me To Have Treatment On My Deep Bite And Crowding Problems?

Thursday, January 16th, 2014
Q.

Hi! I had crowded teeth on my upper jaw during my childhood and it has been fixed with bridges. The treatment started with jaw enlargement, but there was not enough space for all the teeth. After the treatment the teeth on my lower progressed and started to become crowded, in addition I have a deep bite and jaw pains, as well as problems with chewing. I am 21 years old and would like to have treatment for this. The question I have is, if I am unable to carry out full payment, will there be credit opportunities available?

Thank you in advance for your help!

My Crown Keeps Falling Out, Would The Fact I Have Had Chemotherapy Have Any Bearing On This?

Thursday, May 30th, 2013
Q.

hi im in the uk, my front crown has been falling out pretty regular, went to my dentist who is going to fix the crown next to the tooth that’s on a bridge. i’d like to know whether or not this will help the crown to stop falling out? to give you a bit of context about me, i’m 55 years old, in 2006 i was diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma. following this i had chemo and in 2006 i was cured. i’d also like to know whether or not the chemo could have any effect on my teeth? i do go for regular check ups so it’s not like i’m a stranger to the dentist. do you think that it will be a new bridge with the tooth joined on to it? look forward to hearing your response. thank you.

Which Material Would Be The Best For My Bridge?

Thursday, March 14th, 2013
Q.

Which material is better to make a
bridge? The original tooth that is holding the bridge is cracked. We know our chchoices are ceramic or metal back. I am 83 years old and am in pretty good health otherwise, no heart condition, diabetes, breathing trouble—just overweight. I take celebrex every other day, baby asprin, omneprozle, claritin genetic, and vitamins. i exercise about 4 to 5 times a week at a gymn. I have a hearing problem. I do not have false teeth. so my question really when it boils down to it is which is the best kind of bridge for me to go for considering my circumstances (age, health, supplements taken etc.) would the  bridge be better if it were, ceramic or metal back teeth?

Is My Bridge Making My Mouth Taste Bad?

Friday, February 1st, 2013
Q.

Hello Doctor Mark Hughes, I hope you can help me. About a month ago I had a four crown bridge fitted & also one single crown. Now i have a horrible taste in my mouth that seems to be getting worse. it feels like it is coming from the bridge but i cant be sure. There is no smell. Is this normal & will it go away. Will it poisoning me? I floss & take good care to remove any food from under the bridge. I have also just lost an old gold crown which has not yet been replaced though it dosnt feel like the taste is coming from there. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to reading your response and thank you in advance
