Q. hi i have an overbite and my teeth are crooked and overcrowded on the bottom jaw i was wondering roughly how much it would cost for me to have my teeth straightened and my overbite reduced if you could give me a rough estimate that would be great,

A. It depends what type of brace you need but think around £1500 per arch for fixed or removable braces

Am I eligible for an inman aligner?

Q. Hi. When I was younger I had braces put in because my teeth were all overcrowded and they’d all overlapped. After wearing the braces they were all great. I got a bonded retainer on my lower teeth, but I didn’t wear the removable part of my retainer and the upper two front incisors overlap again, and the two teeth on either side stick out at the side. Besides these four teeth, all my teeth are in line and I was wondering if I would be eligible for an inman aligner to correct them?,

A. It could be a simple filling from £50 to a full brace £1500

Can invisalign treatment fix an underbite and replace braces?

Q. Hi Dr. Moore, My name is Joseph and i am a 16 year old male with a class 3 under bite and slight crowding on my bottom teeth. Ive had my top braces for 3 months now and my bottoms for a week and i cant stand them at all. In fact I really really dislike them and I cant see myself with braces for 2 more years. Obviously i have read about Invisalign and i have been wondering if invisalign can correct my under bite( class 3). I have talked to my parents about this and when i proposed my plan they told me to look into it and find out. My plan consited taking off my horrid braces and wearing invisalign to straighten my teeth and either wear bands attached to the invisalign brackets or wear some sort of head gear at night to slowly push my lower jaw back. I also thought about wearing invisalign until my teeth are perfectly straight and then at that point do jaw surgery to correct my jaw alignment. I understand that these “options” of mine are quite abstract but i wanted to hear your opinion on these proposals. In addition i would appreciate it if you could provide me another way i can fix my under bite without braces that you know of.,

A. A class 3 bite is very difficult to correct, I’m not sure Invislaign is the right answer for you but perhaps you should seek advice and a consultation from a dentist with extensive invislaign experience as they may have been able to help patients like you.

What treatment can i get for recurring overbite?

Q. I had braces,wich straightened my teeth & fixed overbite/buck teeth, when I was 13-15yrs. I am now 32, and my top-front teeth are slowing looking buck-tooth again ; also by bottom jaw as moved back (just like before I got braces) so that it looks like my chin is disappearing. What are my options for correcting these issue, and what is the approximate cost?,

A. Relapse of orthodontic cases is common and is usually treated with new ortho followed by fixed retainers. Our usual fee for this is £3300

Any treatment available for obvious gaps in teeth?

Q. Hi Dr Solanki I unfortunately suffer from a lot of overcrowding and as such both of my top incisor teeth stick out . I waited and waited for my dentist to take action when I was younger but he kept on putting off orthodontic work as my milk teeth took so long to fall out. We eventually moved to a different area where we couldn’t get a dentist. As a result I never got the braces I desperately wanted. I am now at a stage where I have summoned up the courage to get braces, a process which I know will be costly as I am now in my mid twenties. I still have a milk top right canine tooth and am wondering if this will have to be removed prior to braces being fitted? If so, will I have to wait until a new tooth grows in before braces can be fitted? The thought of wearing braces as an adult fills me with dread but the prospect of having a gap prior to braces is even worse. Is there any way this obvious gap could be covered up? Many thanks in advance for your help.,

A. Hi there, as you still have the upper canine baby tooth present, then it is unlikely that it will come through at your age. The permanent tooth may not have formed when you were younger or it may have drifted to another area. A panoral xray will show this in detail and confirm wether you have this tooth or not. You will need to know this before any treatment is done- as it will determine what options you have. If the baby tooth comes out, then you will be left with a gap. Braces these days tend to work relatively quickly in comparison to what they used to be like. You need to discuss all of your options with the dentist. I hope this has helped and well done for plucking up the courage. Don’t foregt that wearing braces when you are an adult isn’t such a bad thing. THere are many orthodontic applinaces that are very discreet. Good luck

A. From £1800 but depends on how much movement is required and sometimes the lowers have to be treated if the upper teeth are to be put in the correct place

Q. hi, hope u can help me. i had a brace removed a couple of years ago, didnt wear my retainer as much as i should have and have wide gaps come in the top of my teeth at the sides, im really embarrassed about it and tend not to smile if i can help it, would i be able to get them sorted or have i left it to late, please reply and let me know. thankyou,

A. You can retreat most cases with invisalign or clearstep but you will need to retain. The alternative would be veneers like Lumineers. Cost of braces to treat teeth that have grown inwards?

Will I have to go private to get braces?

Q. hi there im 20 yrs old and i have a gap between my two front teeth on the top row. and either side i have two teeth missing as i never got my second teeth, they never came thru. and have been told id have to pay 4 a brace privatley. is there no way id be able to pay it off in instalments as i think a brace is very exspensive, and i do not work i am a full time mum. i think i should be able to have it on the nhs as its not my fault about my teeth.,

A. I am sorry to hear about your situation, but as this wasn’t addressed at a younger age, then you’re right, you will need to pay for your treatment privately.(as you’re over 18 now) Braces can be quite expensive, but many clincs offer payment schemes and finance to make the treatment more affordable. As you mentioned that your side teeth didn’t come through when you were younger, the perhaps braces aren’t the right treatment- as bringing all the teeth together to close the gaps may make your smile appear unsymmetrical as the right teeth aren’t in the right place. Ideally, you need to discuss all of your options with a cosmetic dentist to see what the best results can be. You may need to have alternative treatment such as implants in the areas where your teteh didn’t come through to restore your smile to its best potential. Good luck.
