Q. Hi, I would like to request a consultation for my Mother. She has over the last 8 months lost the majority of her teeth. After recently visiting a Dentist from the National Health Service in London, she has been told that she does not have sufficient bone to recomment implants. I was researching on the Internet where I say your advert regarding Sinus Lifting. I would like for you to speak with my Mother in regards to this procedure. I am a little confused about why we were not recommended anything like this from the Dentist she went to visit. I look forward to hearing from you.
A. Dear. I am sorry to hear about your mothers predicament. There are number of ways to deal with the problem of lack of bone for implant dentistry. In the upper jaw one way is to bone graft within the floor of the sinus. Please contact my surgery to make an appointment for your mother. I look forward to meeting both of you.

Q. Hi there. I have recently chipped one of my front teeth. I do not wish to get it filed down as my other front tooth is a crown, and this would only make the crown look bigger! Is it possible to have tooth bonding on this front tooth? It is a small thin chip, and only noticable up close. If so does this need to be done privately or can it be carried out on the NHS? thank you for your time
A. hi if this is purely cosmetic which it sounds like it will be a private treatment . if it is a tiny sliver bonding does not always work but is worth a go if it bothers you

Q. I have a gap between two of my front teeth and i was wondering what kind of treatment i could get in order to close the gap. I was researching about tooth bonding and just wanted to ask if you thought that would be the best thing to do in order to close the gap?
A. You would need an assesment to tell the best option for you. Bonding, Veneers & Orthodontics are all possibilities to explore.
The time taken , costs, and stability of the end result are points to consider.
We offer a free initial assesment to help point you in the right direction. Call Amy for details 0121 643 0610.

Q. I have been told that gum disease has caused severe bone loss in my jaw leading to some of my teeth being wobbly and some on the very edge of falling out. The dentist was not even sure if there would be enough bone for implants. I need advice on dentures as I am only 40 and feel devastated about having all my teeth extracted and I am also an opera singer and worry that my singing might be affected by wearing dentures. What type of dentures might be available to me and will it affect my singing.
A. Dentures can cause speach problems, especially the “f” and “V” sounds. This can be managed by adjusting the position of the upper incisors. If you have very little bone available for implants you may need grafting to increase the bone available. There are also a fairly new technique called “all on four”. This attaches a bridge to 4 long implants that are placed into bone buttresses that will be presented in your mouth. The bridge is removed once a year to check the implants and then refixed. Hope this helps

Q. Hi doctor solanki, i am 22 years old in college. I have gap problem with my 2 front teeth.. The gap is pretty wide about half an inch maybe a little less than.. What procedure do you think is the most inexpensive and best for me? Do you think teeth bonding will be suitable for a gap this wide?
A.
I honestly don’t think that composite build ups on your front teeth are the answer. As you are wanting to create the illusion of the gap being closed, then your front teeth will look ridiculously wide.
The same problem you would have with veneers. To close the gap, the veneers would have to be alot wider. This may mean that you have to have more teeth veneered to create the best symmetrical appearance. Hope this makes sense.
I think that orthodontics to close the gap may be your best option. There are lots of different appliances on the market that work really quickly- and some are quite discreet, so don’t dismiss the idea totally. Good luck

Q. When i was younger i filed down my four front teeth, they do still over lap but only slightly and feel quite uncomfortable now, I have wanted to get this fixed for along time but feel embarased about going to the dentist cause of what i have done to them, is there any way i can have them lengthened so they feel and look better Kind Regards
A. There are various methods of lengthening anterior teeth, provided your bite allows it, they include cosmetic bonding and porcelain veneers.
Do not feel embarrassed your dentist will be able to help you with this

Q. Hi I am thinking about having some dental bonding treatment carried out on 1 or 2 of my front upper teeth I have been very lucky until now I have never had any major teeth problems since i was 7 years old I have one upper front tooth thats starting to go a bit decayed near the gum line area and has cracked a bit as a result Would dental bonding fix this? I was considering having a crown but the tooth is pretty healthy besides a small bit of decay near the gum line How much would dental bonding cost per tooth? And is there any major side effects? I am aware that the NHS don`t provide any cosmetic treatment Could an NHS dentist do the bonding if i pay private Man
A. If the decay is minor there should be no need to go for an aggressive treatment such as a crown.
Cosmetic bonding usually costs £100-150 and would seem to be the best option for you

Q. Can porcelain bonded to precious metal permanent bridges be whitened? If so how is the precedure done? How long will the whitening last? What is the approximate cost? And are there any over the counter products that you can recommend that can assist in maintaining this type of whitened teeth for permanent bridges between dentist visits?
A. Unfortunately the only way to change the colour is to have the bridges remade

Q. Hi, I am under 18 years of age, and I have a gap in between my teeth; this maybe due to the piece of skin attatched in between it, I believe its called a frenum or frenulum. I would like to have bonding to fix the gap, would this be free under the NHS? And if I was to have the piece of skin cut if I decide not to have bonding, will this get rid of my gap? Thankyou
A. Removing the skin will help to prevent the gap re-occurring but will not cause spontaneous closure.
Bonding between the teeth should be available on the NHS, I would recommend you seek someone with some cosmetic training to give you the best results possible.

Q. This is with regard to the loss of confidence. How does one manages the fear of losing a veneer, crown or bonding while having a meeting or doing an important presentation? Will there be tell-tale signs before a veneer, crown or bonding falls out? The fear to eat in case of damaging the veneer, crown and bonding also affects quality of life. Can you provide your thoughts and reassurance please? Thank you.
A. I can’t really tell you not to worry because these things can happen, albeit only rarely. My advice would be to eat normally but avoid sticky or crunchy foods on your front teeth especially just before an important meeting/occasion. Once you’ve had them a while your confidence will build and i’m sure you’ll feel happier

Q. I am 51 and since having my daughter at the age of 30, I seem to have lost the enamel on my teeth. I hate having photos taken as my teeth look grey. What treatment would help. I don’t want to smile anymore.
A. Proper diagnosis of why you have worn is essential. Following this the usual type of treatments given are bonding , veneers or crowns

Q. My teeth have over the past few months become very thin looking and almost transparent looking and people have mentioned they look this way. I was wondering if anything could be done about this and how much it would likely cost at an NHS dentist.
A. Your thin teeth ar due to either acid erosion or a physical wear problem. The dagnosis needs to be made first. Following this bonding, venering or corwning may be required .

Q. My daughter is 13 years old 4years ago she fell roller skating and had a type 3 fracture on her top front teeth. They have both had a root canal and have been bonded, We are starting ortho treatment to a severe overbite and protruding front teeth. And crowding My question is will moving the teeth in treatment cause the bonding to crack or cause root resorption? The ortho Dr has been doing this for 27 years he knows its a special case and even is taken precautions by putting brackets on the front tooth for more stregnth. We have been through so much and do not need anymore to worry about. She starts headgear next week I am just afraid those 2 front teeth will crack or fall out Any advise?
A. It sounds like the orthodontist has a lot of experience and should be able to keep an eye on the teeth as the treatment progresses, it sounds like the orthodontic traetment is necessary not just for cosmetic reasons and will help reduce the likelyhood of trauma to the front teeth in the future.

Q. Dr Moore, I am having major dental bridge construction to both left and right front teeth. 6 teeth to right and 5 to left sides. My dentist dropped some glue called Pamp Bond into my mouth and a 1 inch piece got lodged into back of my mouth. The glue is also foul tasting. Is this glue a proper glue for use to secure the temporary bridge. I am concerned for my health.
A. There is no cause for alarm, the cement is actually call Temp Bond and is used routinely in dentistry for temporary restorations and is very safe to use.

Q. Hi their I am wondering what treatment is best for me to get. My front upper 6 teeth have gaps between each tooth between 1-2mm each as a result have having 2 back teeth removed as a child my teeth seperated apart. I have never required any work done to my teeth since 16 and have been advised against removing healthy teeth for veneers. I work in a cosmetic industry and wearing braces is not an option. I was wondering if inman aligner or 6 month smile would work given my gaps are over 6 teeth. Thanks
A. I don’t think an Inman would work but 6-moth smile might. You might also consider bonding resin for the gaps or minimal preparation veneers to a great overal look

Q. I am currently training to be a dental nurse, and one of my assignments is about retorations, one of the questions is asking the purpose and types of bonding agents, please could you help me answer the question. Thank you
A. Bonding agents are used to bond composite resin to teeth to seal the teeth. You should look on the manufacturers website such as Dentsply for all the technical information

Q. I have a gap between my two front teeth, they were bonded on 6/20/09 to close the Gap somewhat, leaving a small gap.Question: 1) should you be able to see where my teeth was bonded? I can see where the bonding meets my teeth on one of my tooth. 2)Should the surface of my now bonded teeth feel rough?
A. It sounds like the bonding filling needs polishing, pop back to your dentist and ask them to take a look
