Need to fix my bite and get gum graft, please suggest.

Q.
I am nearly coming to the end of invisalign treatment and have found that my top front teeth have gone forward and caused me to have a bit of an overbite. Also my lower left canine gum has receded, which must be due to brushing too hard as I don’t have gum disease. Will invisalign refinements be able to push my front teeth back a bit? or is there any other treatment that can fix my bite? Where can I go to get a gum graft, as it is causing me a lot of anguish.

Confused as I cannot find a reason for my smelly and rotting teeth.

Q.
I had a veneer on my lateral incisor around 4 years ago. Last year I noticed that the tooth was discoloured around the gum line and had a bad smell/taste and feeling of pressure – never pain. After several courses of antibotics my Dentist performed root treatment, twice as it was unsuccessful the first time. My tooth still smells and tastes bad and my dentist is baffled – any ideas? I think perhaps there is a gap between the veneer and my tooth and that the front shell of my tooth is rotting, could that be the case – is there anything can be done? Thanks

Due to grinding I have gum receeding and loosing my smile.

Q.
Dear Dr Tennet, For as long as I can remember I have suffered from bruxism. I sleep with a nightguard which my NHS dentist made for me but my gums seem to be receeding as a result of the grinding, which I think has now led to gum disease, and my upper anterior teeth are becoming very thin and I’m terrified of them snapping off altogether. I’m only 27 and hate my smile. My teeth seem to be wearing down and decaying very quickly and I’m terrified of having to wear a denture. Do you think crowns and possibly gum grafts may help me? I really don’t want to lose my teeth and my NHS dentist doesn’t seem to care.

Q.
Hi, i am 28 an have had problems with my teeth for years i have advanced gum disease and have recently had 2 taken out at the front on each side so when i smile it doesnt look very nice also the majority of my bottom teeth are wobbly, they are discoloured some crooked and i hate them. My family has a history of dental problems my grandfather,2 aunts an uncle all had their teeth removed before the age of thirty. I would like to have mine removed but dont know how to go about it or what to even ask for. Money is an issue i am a single parent but am so unhappy with my teeth an always embarrased when i laugh or smile and it is affecting my life. I have however considered long term payment plans which would suit if i you can do that with cosmetic dentistry?. My aunt says she has plates but they dont cover the whole roof of her mouth an fit into her gums and look really natural can you tell me what this is and cost etc. I am considering travelling abroad to get something done as my dentist is very unhelpful, i am looking for some help and guidance please….please help me.

Best option to repair or restore bad gum?

Monday, November 30th, 2009
Q.
My gums are very poor at the bottom of my mouth and have been pushed down by plaque etc ?? due to bad gum disease, I am in the process of rectifying this and also looking into implants for the teeth that it has effected. Is there anyway that the gums can then be repaired or restored so that theres not big gaps etc ??

I want to have dentures but I am concerned too.

Friday, November 27th, 2009
Q.
I have chronic gum disease and have done for 20 years or more. Have gone through deep cleans but find it frightening, nerve wracking, emotionally upsetting all due to hate needles, loathe dentristy anyway ie: smell, tools etc and get in a panic to the extent I vomit whenever have finished suffering the treatment. I have asked for my teeth to be pulled out and replaced with dentures of which the dental hospital have actually listened. I am awaiting news from them now as they have to get an xray from my dentist and take it from there. I have thought about having dentures for years. Cannot go through another treatment of needles and scaling etc. I just can do it. It just keeps coming back and I am always being told off and made out that I am not doing what they ask and yet I do, I do everything and yet still the gum disease comes back to haunt me. My teeth are disgusting. Stained and gums very very sore. I have bone showing where the gums receded that much. Teeth are wobbly also. I feel a freak. I have done for ages and hate smiling. When you have dentures I know it is drastsic and I know it is a sore process etc but I want it done. What I want to know is can they say take out the top row of teeth and fit dentures and then do the bottom row of teeth so as to avoid having no teeth at all. I really want an end to this horrible problem and am getting very depressed over all of this.

Need the cause and solution for my overbite issue?

Friday, November 27th, 2009
Q.
Dear Experts, I have had 2 front teeth replaced by crowns and implants as a result of an accident. Unfortunately there are some discoloring at the top of the crowns where it meet the gumline which is unsightly. What can be done to rectify this? Also, it may sound silly, but it feels as if my teeth are too short and the bite is all wrong. My jaw and jaw muscles gets really sore when I close my mouth, trying to rest the top and bottom jaw on each other. So as a result, trying to compensate for the pain, I try and rest it on the front teeth. Unfortunately, then it creates an uncomfortable, clenching overbite. It is a very uncomfortable and painful situation and I would appreciate advice on how to correct this.
