Is composite filling better than acrylic ones will it last longer?

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009
Q.
I had a white filling in a molar tooth I think it was an acrylic one, it was cured by a UV light and matched the natural colour of my tooth, since it was done about four months ago it has been sensitive to hot & cold, I’ve been back to the dentist, he explained that because the cavity was deep it could have been that the acrylic filling was conducting the heat/cold to the root causing some discomfort he has now replaced it with another type of white filling that did Not need a UV light to cure it, its pure white and he said it would be prone to staining, it left a nasty taste in my mouth he also told me not to eat on the repaired side for about an hour, My question is, what material is it likely to be and is this a better material than the acrylic one? Will it last for as long as an acrylic one, Thanks for your time,

I have lost all my bottom teeth and want cosmetic dentures

Saturday, July 5th, 2008
Q.
Over the last 12 months, I have lost all but 3 of my bottom teeth. I have dentures which are awful looking and ill fitting. I asked my dentist about cosmetic dentures, but am not sure he understood exactly the type I want, as he told me they would cost between £300 – £500, yet looking at internet sites they seem a lot more expensive. The type I am thinking of are the sort seen on tv shows such as 10 yrs younger. What sort of cost would I be looking at please.
