my teeth are disgusting from drinking sugar drinks and smoking

Sunday, October 26th, 2008
Q.
Hi i am 23 years old and can honestly say my teeth are disgusting from drinking extreme amounts of sugar drinks and smoking. I am so so scared of the dentist as i have been treated so bad in the past as dentist can’t believe how bad my teeth are. Over the past 2 years i tried to put things that had happened in the past behind and get some treatment. I have spent over £3000 and am now done to 7 teeth on the bottom and a broken one in bedded in m gum and 11 on my top if you can call them teeth. Most times a dentist tries to save a tooth which then a month later has not worked so i end up having it out. I am at the stage where i say to myself i want all my teeth out and have a false set as i am in so much pain and it never seems to end. Please help and let me know what my best options are as private treatment now seems to be my final option.

I have acid erosion, and my teeth have become discolored

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008
Q.
I have acid erosion, and my teeth have become quite discoloured despite the fact I have never smoked, and I don’t drink tea, coffee or red wine. I wonder whether the enamel has worn away so the appearance could be due to the dentine being revealed? The bottom third of my upper front teeth appear especially dark. I am keen to get my teeth whitened but am concerned that this may not help in my case. Can you let me know what you think? Many thanks.

can you help me komal with my daughters teeth

Sunday, September 14th, 2008
Q.
Hello Komal, not too sure whether you will be able to help me or not; but here goes. My daughter has just turned 4. We have had a problem since here teeth first appeared. Mainly the 4 front top and 4 bottom. At first the dentists thought it was flourosis, so we treated her accordingly, however after extensive hospital tests it proved nothing of the sort. As we were advised to avoid flouride, we now realised she needed it more than ever. Her teeth on the face and cutting edges started to crumble. We were referred to the Orthodontics hospital in Bristol where she had white painted material intially applied, and then over later months almost like a white filling applied to the directly affected areas. The problem is that these filings fall off after a week or so and then her teeth become too painful for her to eat. We have been told that they can keep reapplying these surface fillings, however we were wondering whether there is a more permanent alternative? The last resort is to have the teeth removed with GA but the hospital do not think these teeth are bad enough to merit this. Due to the constant irritation and pain my daughter is in, is there a cosmetic solution that we can apply to these milk teeth? veneers? I can send you some images of the affected teeth if you believe this would help in your appraisal. Many Thanks in advance.

Can i find an NHS dentist for acid errosion

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008
Q.
Hi. I have a problem with the condition of my teeth and am not sure what type of treatment would be right for me. I have begun to get acid erosion on my teeth and have had to have a filling to fill 2 chips that appeared on my two front teeth. Apparently the erosion is caused by eating too much citrus fruit as i rarely drink sugary drinks etc. My two front teeth appear to be disintegrating and have gone from being lovely and straight to curved and a bit jagged. They also are a bit discoloured. This is really affecting my confidence now and i spend most of my time worrying and thinking about the state of my teeth and how they could end up. i was thinking about veneers but not sure i can afford it or if i want my original teeth to be filed down to toothpicks! I am an NHS patient – will this help with the cost of sorting my teeth out? Thanks for your advice.

I have stained teeth and fillings Im from north Scotland

Sunday, July 13th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I am a 32 year old woman and around 5 years ago, on advice from my dentist, I had white fillings bonded to my two front teeth. This was to cover up the pitted appearance of the teeth caused by acid erosion (due to drinking too many fruit juices and brushing teeth directly after every meal.) I have since had the fillings removed as they started to discolour and looked darker than the rest of my teeth, which are fairly white. However, one of my front teeth is still stained with a yellow patch. A new dentist has told me that it looks like the composite has become embedded into the natural tooth which is now quite smooth from rubbing down. I am now worried about having further treatment to remove the stains in case I lose a lot more of my tooth through the filing down. However, the stains bother me every day. It is very difficult to find anyone locally (I live in the north of Scotland), who seems to have much experience in this area. Can you advise on what the best option for me might be, and if possible recommend any dentists in the Inverness/Scotland area who may be able to help. I am very nervous about making a mistake with my teeth again. Hope you can help.

My front teeth are thin with acid erosion from an eating disorder

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008
Q.
My two front teeth have been eroded and thinned (thick at the gum then really slim down at the bottom) due to acid erosion caused by years of an eating disorder. Now those days are truly well behind me I am left with a reminder when I see these two eroded front teeth, which I am becoming more and more self conscious about. The two teeth either side of these face forwards so I presume would need re-allighning, however the rest of my teeth are in pretty good nick and form a good shape / curve. What would you recommend to sort these 4 teeth out, and roughly do you know how much it would cost, and could you recommend anywhere in London, many thanks.

Can I replace lost enamel from my tooth

Saturday, June 28th, 2008
Q.
I am really really worried about losing the enamel on my teeth. Is there any way of restoring it apart from removing most of the tooth?
