As a Younger Patient, Can I Have Composite Veneers?

Thursday, April 9th, 2015
Q.

Hello, I am a 16 year old girl and very conscious of my smile. My dentist says I have a peg lateral and I got a filling to make it look better but now it’s stained. Can I have composite veneers? I’m told I’m too young for porcelain veneers. Do I need drilling? Can it be done without drilling, and is there any harm in them? Can I not choose to have porcelain veneers or replace them when I get older? Please help with advice, I would be grateful.

My Daughter’s Orthodontist Recommended That She Have Four Teeth Removed. Is This The Right Decision?

Monday, April 28th, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew. My 16 year old daughter has been referred to her orthodontist following a dental visit. She still has 5 baby teeth. X-ray has confirmed that she has adult teeth waiting to come down, all except one. The orthodontist has recommended she has the four baby teeth removed, two canines and the two either side. There is a tooth in the gum above one of the canines. To have four visible teeth extracted at this age will be so awful and we are in such a quandary as to whether or not we are making the right decision, please can you advise us. Many thanks.

After Suffering A Traumatic Attack I Want Dental Implants, How Many Do I Need?

Monday, August 19th, 2013
Q.

I had a consultation today I was told I would need to have a bone augmentation procedure as I lost my front tooth through trauma when I was only sixteen years old. I was attacked and beaten really badly, the subsequent injuries I sustained were a hairline fracture of my tooth above the gum line, a broken nose, head trauma, bruising and also anxiety nightmares. I am very nervous and afraid to leave
the house. My parents wanted me to go to the hospital, but that made me feel very frightened. Please can you give me an insight as to what the procedure would entail and how long it would take, roughly. Many thanks. I look forward to receiving your professional opinion. It still effects me to this very day and as you can imagine a denture plate was what my dentist said was my only option at that time, the fracture happened in my top front right
tooth. I want to have dental implants, I had to have my three front teeth removed, my two front teeth and the
tooth to the right also, as my
bridge was damaged. How many
implants to you think I will need?

Can A Dentist Save My Wobbly Teeth?

Monday, May 20th, 2013
Q.

Hello. I am a sixteen year old and feel absolutely mortified about the state of my teeth. I have never always been a good brusher, and unfortunately am only just realising just how important it is to maintain dental hygiene for making sure I keep healthy teeth. As of a few weeks ago, some of my teeth have become loose, and they are nearly all the front ones, on both the top and bottom. Please could you give me some advice on what a dentist would be able to do to replace the teeth, and give an estimate as to how much it would cost for a course of treatment under the NHS? Thank you.

My 16 year old daughter has white marks on her teeth, what treatment can she have to remove them?

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012
Q.

My daughter just turned 16 and has what appears to be “white stains on her teeth. I thought it was from her braces but the orthodontist said it was probably from the iron she had to take when she was an infant.
She was anemic when she was a baby; at 2 months of age we put the iron drops down the side of her check once a day for 6 months. We did this until she stopped breastfeeding and got the iron from her formula.
Either way, now that she has straight teeth, she wishes they were a nicer color.

What are her options?
