should my crown be sensitive after root canal
Q. I had a root canal done over a year ago and had a crown put on the same tooth a couple months ago. That tooth or crown is now rather sensitive at night, when I exercise and at times when I bite down on it; is this normal?
A. The mouth is a very sensitive place. You can detect a difference of 20 microns if any changes have happened to your bite. Sometimes these tiny changes can cause you to hit slightly heaviesr on one tooth more than another. If this happens you get a “bruise ” around the tooth that makes it tender to bite on. This is probably what ahs happened in your case - contact your dentist and tell them your symptoms. They may want to adjust your bite.
