Should I have implants or veneers on baby teeth ?

Q. Should I have dental implants to replace my baby teeth or is it better to have dental veneers on them?

A. Dear B

The long term future of baby teeth in the mouth can be less than ideal due to the comparatively short roots that these teeth have so I can certainly understand your dentist`s thinking re- having dental implants.

Unless the teeth are already loose then you could place porcelain veneers but this may only be as a stop gap measure prior to having dental implants in the future.
The longevity of the veneers is completely dependant on the bone support surrounding those baby teeth.

I hope this helps with your treatment choices

I have 2 baby teeth which are capped at moment, they are starting to feel loose, my dentist has told me that my 2nd teeth are present (by xray)and that they would need removing and implants could be fitted after filling the bone with mineral, when the baby teeth come out. I wonder if there are any other options as this seems very expensive from her quote and I really do not want a permanent plate with false teeth, please can you give me any advise. Thankyou

I would suggest you go see a different Dentist for a consultation and see what they say before starting any treatment.

Hi Just a quick question, my second tooth is a baby tooth and Im 22. I Havecrown on it. My dentist told me that I have some kind of condition and when I loose my baby tooth new one won’t grow. She suggested an implant. I don’t like the sound of it and wondered if maybe fixed braces would be a solution, maybe to extract my baby tooth and push my teeth in its place? If thatwould be possible could you tell me about costs and anything involved? Many thanks

hi I’m 29 and still have 4 baby teeth, two on the top and two on the bottom gum. i was not worried about them, but now they are beginning to crack and one of them broke out and a small piece of the tooth was left on the gum.I’m worried now that if they are like this that means i will have four tooth gaps and that’s not cute at all. Why are they like this now? if i get them all removed will new teeth ever come out 🙁 But i floss and brush my teeth every day is this not helping at all? any advise?

you will need to be examined and see if there are any permanent teeth under the gum if not then a dentist can look at implants or bridges to fill the gaps.
