Should I choose non NHS dentures or NHS dentures

Q. I have just been told that my remaining teeth need to be removed and have both upper and lower dentures. I am considering implants but at this time the cost is an issue. I would like an opinion on whether to pay the extra for non nhs dentures in the interim or to have nhs dentures until next year when I can have the implants. Thank You

A. I would guess Private dentures should be a better fit but this depends on who makes them. Implants will provide you with greater stability to the dentures or even fixed teeth. They might be worth paying for in the long run for extra comfort and confidence

I have just had a denture made to replace some broken upper teeth but when I try to wear it after removal over night, it hurts part of my gum (upper) on my right side. I have visited the dentist yesterday and he made some adjustments but it still hurts as I tried to wear this morning. Is this usual and how can I stop it hurting. I had no problem eating with the borken upper teeth but since their removal I have to try to eat on my right side of my mouth as the dentures hurt a little when eating.

It might need time to settle in especially if it sounds like you’ve had teeth out. Give it a bit longer but go back if things don’t improve
