Should I Be Worried About My Toothache?

Q.
For a while now I have been biting my back tooth on the left hand side at the back. I went to the dentist and he said he couldn’t see anything wrong with it. I tried very hard to stop biting down as I hear a clicking noise. Tonight I bit down and I felt a sharp pain. Since then my tooth kind of aches a bit and was sensitive to touch. Should I be worried? I have a fear of the dentist. Will this stop if I leave it alone? Thank you.

Hi there. It sounds like you may have cracked your tooth. This can cause a sharp pain when biting onto something, which is usually relieved when you stop biting. In the majority of cases it is possible to restore a cracked tooth, but it is important to see a dentist to investigate it further and treat it as early as possible. Mark.
