Q. I only have 4 teeth left all on the top and 2 of these have been reconstructed, what would be the best option for me other than dentures and what would be the estimated cost.,
A. Implants would be possible if you have enough bone. The cost can vary greatly depending on what you have put on top of the implants. see an implant dentist for a proper quote

Q. I have bone loss to front lower gums and have very loose central 4- 6 teeth my dentist suggests bone grafting and implants. my questions 1. how long will i be with teeth? 2. How long does the process of grafting take and 3. what are the costs involved with grafting and implants?,
A. You would need to see a specialist Periodontist for a consultation. There are several differant procedures for bone grafting, most cases implants are placed 4 – 6 months after the bone grafting procedure has been done. Implants cost £2100.00 per tooth if multiples are being placed thenm they are reduced in cost. Bone grafting cost anything from £300.00 up to £1500.00 Please feel free to contact the clinic to arrange an appointment with our specialist Periodontist.

Q. Dear Dr Moore I have a chronic infection in/around a
root canal treated tooth which my dentist thinks is probably cracked, my dentist has x rayed this recently and is happy to leave it. I asked if I could try antibiotics, she was happy to give me a prescription for Metronidazole but said it would only get rid of the infection in the short term and it would come back. My question therefore is do you think it is actually worth taking the antibiotics and if I do is there any chance however remote that the infection could disappear permanently? I am not keen on taking antibiotics if they are not necessary and my dentist did seem rather ambivalent about them. Many thanks for your advice and kind regards.
,
A. The antibiotic will only help short term so it might not be worth taking them unless the symptoms worsen. I would consider proper treatment to the root in the long-term

Q. My son is 8 has a crooked tooth growing behind his teeth as the gap is too small for it to grow aligned properly can this be straightened with surgery or would braces be better, he has a problem when you mess inside his mouth sometimes he gags and vomits what would be the best course of action,
A. He’s too young for braces you probably need to wait till he’s older, treatment will also be easier in most cases.

Q. Hi I am 23 years old and my lower gums have receeded badly. I have 1 tooth already removed and another due to be removed soon. My dentist has offered me a denture and says in ten years I may loose all the bottom teeth/they will become very loose. The bone is also affected and I am wondering if you could help me with any suggestions or treatment you can perform to have
dental implants eg is there a possibility of strengthening the gums and bone so I can have
dental implants?,
A. I would advise you see a specialist Periodontist for a 2nd opinion. He specialises in Gums and bone loss. Treatments are availbale for gum recession. Please feel free to contact the clinic to arrange a free initial consultation with Dr M Howdle our Specilaist Periodontist.

Q. i had a
root canal on my upper tooth(fifth from the front) a year ago and recently a good chunk of the remaining tooth has come away. Is it still possiblt to get it crowned now?,
A. Without taking a look it is difficult to say. If the tooth has fractured beyond gum level then it may be difficuilt. I am to take a look.

Q. Good morning Dr. Moore, Years ago, I went to see an orthodontist who had told me there wouldn’t be space for my
wisdom teeth to grow in and that I would need them removed. This has never happened and they have caused me considerable pain at random intervals since they came some-what in. Recently, I have been experiences a shooting, intense pain stemming from a spot in my skull behind my right ear. This pain is very intense and the right side of my neck bunches every time it happens– which since yesterday morning, has been every minute or so. Could the cause of this pain be my impacted
wisdom teeth? I read on this site they can cause cysts or tumours.. Thank you,
,
A. I guess it is probably coming from the jaw joint in this area. either way i would ask your dentist to check things out for you

So for now my teeth is pushed out from my top teeth and its hard for me to talk. I havent been to the dentist yet becasue of no insurance. Is it possible that I can get my teeth pushed back in place? Or do I have to get them removed? Im tryin to keep all my teeth.,
A. I would have to take a look before i can advise, it depends on how mobile they have become. I am happy to take a look. Please contact the clinic for a consultation.

Q. hi i live in the manchester area and my 2 front teeth are bigger than the rest and more toward the front than the rest i am wondering what the average cost would be to have them removed and replace with false or how much a clear brace would cost i am on a low income so i am trying to find out if i can afford to do so as it effects my life in terms of confidance,
A. I would get an opinion with an Orthodontist to discuss your options for a brace before considerng getting them taken out. Braces cost anything from £1500.00 up to £3500.00. We do offer payment plans where you can spread the cost of your treatment up to 5 years.

Q. i have a dead front tooth, it is very discoloured, i had a brace when i was young but didn’t wear the retainer properly, so my front teeth are wonky again, i want another brace and also want internal bleeching, my dentist has reffered my to a
root canal specialist for the whitening, but says i cannot have a brace as it may cause me to loose my dead tooth, but i cant live with it any more, i hate it, what can i do??,
A. As long as the tooth which has been
root canal treated has settled down, you should be able to wear a brace. I am happy to take a look.

Q. Der Sir, I am graduating as a secondary school teacher next year and was hoping you could give me some advice on a straightening programme that would best suite my needs. I really don’t want to have to wear braces in school so I was looking into the 6 month smile of inman aligner programmes. Which do you think is the best? or are there other programmes that would be better? Thank you,
,
A. If your teeth are suitable then i would recomend the Ivisalign braces They are a clear gum shield of which no one will even notice your wearing them. The six smonth smile consists of a fixed bridge but the brackets are ceramic so again not really noticable.

Q. I AM 40 YEAR OLD WOMAN. I HAVE A GAP BETWEEN MY FRONT TEETH AND LATERAL INCISORES. A BIGGER GAP ON LEFT SIDE COMPARED TO RIGHT SIDE. WHAT WILL BE MY BEST OPTION TO FILL THE GAP?,
A. The least invasive of way of closing the gaps would be to wear a brace. There are several different types which we can offer. There is 1 designed for your front teeth only, which only takes up to 12 weeks this is the inman aligner. I would need to take a look to advise more accurately. Please feel free to contact the clinic.

Q. Hi I am 30 years old and had a plate put in about 5 years ago to cover 4 missing teeth in my front lower jaw. This was due to very poor oral hygiene on my part when I was growing up. There was a concern at the time that one of the teeth the plate anchors onto was also weak. Unfortunately, that tooth is now due to be removed. I do smoke about 2 cigarettes a day (trying to quit), I brush regularly and only drink water and try my best to avoid sugar as a result of all this but I feel as though I’m fighting a losing battle and I don’t want to lose anymore teeth. The plate can hurt when eating food and it is difficult to take in and out every day. I spoke with a consultant at the NHS yesterday and he was totally dismissive of the idea of implants. I know I would have to go private, that’s not a problem, but he told me not to bother wasting my money. I am concerned, however, that the plate is putting pressure on my other teeth and is causing me too much discomfort. I’m desperate to get this sorted out and I wanted to get a second opinion. I realise you’re a leading expert in this field and I was wondering if you could offer me any advice as to the best course of action? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Yours,
,
A. I’m not sure why the consultant is so dismissive as implants are a recognised treatment, unfortunately there is still some ignorance of new techniques in dentistry. i would be very happy to take a look if you’d like to contact my clinic for a consultation so I can tell you if you’re a suitable candidate.
