Hello Mark, My Teeth Are Out Of Position And I Would To Know If Veneers Treatment Would Help Me?

July 28th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark, I just wanted to enquire about getting veneers put on my teeth. My first fang at my left side never came through in is buried behind the back of my front two teeth. I have been to the orthodontist and they have told me that it isn’t touching my root and can be left there. However, this has made my teeth not straight and they are positioned slightly more to the left than I would want. I want to get veneers put on the front to correct my smile and was wanting some help and advice if possible? Thank you in advance.

I Plan To Have Crowns To Replace My Veneers. Could You Recommend A Decent Dental Practice For This?

July 28th, 2014
Q.

Dear Dr Gambroudes,

I have had veneer treatments several times in my two front teeth.

Before I was six, I was brought up in a place with very high level of fluoride in the drinking water and I developed fluoriosis, especially on the front teeth. When I was around 17, cavities were found in the two front teeth and as they were so bad, I had to have the roots removed.

The veneer treatments were on top of all the above conditions. I plan to have crowns to replace the veneers as the colour never lasts long and there are cracks on the surface as well. I wonder if you could recommend me some good dental practice clinics as well as suggest what materials I should use for crowns.

Thank you very much.

Best wishes.

I Have A Grinding Problem With My Molar. My Dentist Has Advised My To Have It Extracted But I Would Like To Know A Different Solution?

July 25th, 2014
Q.

Dear Dr Hughes, I am 47 years old now. I have a chewing or grinding problem with my right 3rd molar. I have pain and sensitivity but no swelling or redness. My dentist advised me to go for extraction as there is grade 2 mobility. Do I really need to have extraction when there is no swelling. Kindly guide me? I am not diabetic or hypertensive.I got flap surgery done 5 years back and till now I have maintained them with proper care. For 6 months now this 3rd molar is not co-operating and it hurts to bite food. Do you know of any other treatment which could help me?

I Neglected My Teeth During My School Years And Now They Are Really Yellow. Is It Possible For Have Them Taken Out And Replaced?

July 25th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Gambroudes. I have had problems with my teeth all my life and I’m now 28 years old and they have all grown out in different directions and they are getting worse. I also neglected them in my school years and as a result they are really yellow. I’m extremely self-conscious about them and never smile with an open mouth. Is it possible to have them all taken out and a new set put in and how much would it cost to do so? Thank you for your time.

I Have Problems Eating And Would Like To Know If I Could Get Braces Through The NHS At A Reduced Rate?

July 25th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I am 75 years old and chronically disabled. Do you know if it could be possible for me to have a brace fitted to enable me to eat properly and to correct a cross bite involving my front teeth. One tooth on the upper jaw and two teeth on the lower set injures my tongue and inner lips when I am eating (I have difficulty eating too as I have few molar teeth) and also when I am asleep? Would this be possible through the NHS or at a very reduced cost? Thank you for your reply in advance.

The Tooth Which Anchors My Bridge Has Worn Away. Is There Anything That Can Be Done To Preserve The Entire Bridge?

July 25th, 2014
Q.

Hi Marcus. I have a lower 3 tooth bridge. I have had it in place for over 20 years now and it recently became loose on one side. I had a recent X-ray and my dentist told me that the molar which is anchoring it in has lost a lot of tooth structure. This tooth already has a root canal on it. He said by the X-ray it looks like too much tooth has been lost and recommends leaving one tooth of the bridge in place and removing the other 3 crowns of the bridge as well as the molar that has decayed away. Have you ever seen this situation and is there anything else that can be done to preserve entire bridge? Thank you.

I Have Pain In My Jaw But I Can’t Afford To Get This Fixed. Do You Have Any Ideas On What I Can Do?

July 24th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I had steroids as a child and as a result my teeth more or less all contain fillings. Money is tight for me, but I have a very painful jaw which my dentist tends to ignore. I have two teeth missing and others need pulling out. I am only 36 and find it hard to smile because I have lost all confidence as my teeth are such a mess not to mention how painful eating and drinking is. What should I do? Any help or advice on this will really be helping me. Thank you in advance.

I Am Unhappy With My Temporary Bridge That I Have To Wear For Six Months. Can You Tell Me What To Do?

July 24th, 2014
Q.

Hi Marcus. I got temporary bridges this year for upper and lower. I am very unhappy as the colour is really yellow and do not match my teeth, the metal shows on my upper and bottom teeth. I do not want to even smile with them in my mouth. I asked four different times when I would get my permanent teeth and now I’m being told six months. They did not clean my teeth before they pulled my others ones and when I ask when they are going to clean my teeth I was told it would cost me and extra £1,500. I want to know where I can go and get my teeth done the way they are supposed to be. I would to hear from you over any advice you could possibly give. Thank you.

I Need To Have The Gap Between My Front Teeth Closed. Would Invisalign Clear Aligners Work For This?

July 24th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark, I am 20 years old and I have a gap in my front teeth. How long would it take to close this and what would the prices come to? I’ve had several appointments with dentists and they all say with time the gap will come together but it never does I feel really conscious because of it and I hate smiling or even talking to people. Working as a promotions seller I need to have a good smile which I definitely don’t because of the gap.
I am undecided on this treatment and mostly on the Invisalign aligners. Can you tell me the difference and which would be better and cost effective?

I Need My Veneers Replacing And Have No Choice. Would This Still Be A Considered Cosmetic By The NHS?

July 24th, 2014
Q.

Hi there. I wondered if you could help me?
I had an accident approximately 10 years ago and knocked my 2 front teeth out. I had veneers fitted and unfortunately I have fractured one and both have dropped considerably. I need to go to my dentist but wondered if you could give me some advice as I’m told you can not get veneers on the NHS as they are for cosmetic reasons, however I originally had them on the NHS and as they need replacing due to them coming to the end if the life it’s not for cosmetic reasons but more through medical or through no choice. Can you confirm if this is true and approximately how much would it cost? Thanks.
