I Have Recently Had Six Veneers Fitted. I Have A Black Line Appearing At The Bottom Of Two Veneers. How Can I Get Rid Of This?

August 6th, 2014
Q.

Hiya. I’ve just had veneers done, six at the top, I’ve only had them done recently and already I have a black line appearing at the bottom of two of the veneers. I’ve tried brushing it away but it won’t go. I also feel my veneers are not very secure and could fall out at any time. I was made aware that this was a good cosmetic dentist. I am beginning to think that this is not the case.
Could you help to tell me what the black lines are and what I should do to be rid please?
Also how long should the veneers be sensitive for as my still feel very sensitive?

Thank you.

How Much Does It Cost For Me To Fix A Slight Overbite? I Would Find It Difficult To Fund Without Help.

August 6th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Patel.

I have a slight overbite and would like to get this fixed. I have looked around how to get this done when I bumped into your website.

My question is: how much this will cost and if there is any possibility to get this covered by any insurance?

I noticed this problem when I started to get older but didn’t know if there was a procedure to get this fixed, but since I am an student who is not employed this is going to be difficult to fund on my own.

This procedure would give me self-esteem since as I am very conscious about my overbite problem.

Looking forward for your reply.

Sincerely.

I Would Like To Know If I Am A Suitable Candidate For Invisible Aligners Or Other Clear Aligner Treatment?

August 6th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I am wondering if I would be a suitable candidate for Invisible aligners or other clear aligner treatment? I have a moderate over-bite, with the top middle two teeth jutting out slightly further than the next two teeth. There is some over-crowding in the top too, with the teeth next to the top middle ones sitting slightly behind them. At the moment I have temporary veneers on these two teeth to bring them into line (the dentist I was seeing didn’t prep the teeth and put permanent veneers on as I was still considering orthodontic work). However, I don’t like the look of the veneers compared to my own teeth. I would be happy with veneers if they looked more like my own teeth, which are slightly transparent and have texture. Whereas the veneers look a bit dead to me, plastic looking. I had the bottom teeth straightened in my 20s and still have the glued in retainer. Now that I’m older I don’t want to have visible regular braces. I’d be grateful for your advice.

Kind regards.

I Struggle To Keep My Dentures In As I Have Emphysema And Cough A Lot. What Can I Do To Hold Them In Place?

August 6th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Moore. I am female and aged 63. I have emphysema and I cough continuously, I have recently had my teeth out due to gum disease and have partial plate both top and bottom. I have tried to wear the dentures from May but I continually gag and end up being sick, I am lucky if I can keep them in for an hour. My dentist says he can not take any more from the top plate and if he did there would not be enough plate left to hold them in. If it’s not the gag reflex it’s the cough, please help. Thank you for your time.

Hi. I Would Like To Know Which Treatments Are Capable Of Broadening My Smile?

August 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I wanted to ask you if you know of any other ways to broaden my smile . I have already paid £3000 for braces, where my orthodontist decided to pull 2 of my teeth out from my upper mouth, when I specifically said I want my mouth broadened. It was still very much concave when I had them taken off and my bottom teeth are still a mess. I’ve had veneers on but my back teeth are still shadowed. You can probably see 6 teeth at the most and my teeth are still very small even with the veneers. I am very self conscious and I still hate having pictures. Is there anything that can be done?

I Want To Know If I Can Have Braces Through Two Separate Orthodontists In Different Parts Of The World?

August 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr. Riten, I am relocating to the UK from India in a couple of weeks. I am 25 years old and I need your advice on cosmetic dentistry.

My upper front teeth lie ahead of the lower front teeth. I wanted to get braces but heard the medical expenses in London are very steep.

So, I wanted your advice:
1. If I get the braces process started in India, will dentists in London take up the case and treat me?

2. What is the cost of getting braces in UK?

3. Anything else that you can suggest.

If needed, could I also send across my full mouth x-ray.

I look forward to your response.

Thanks.

I Have Been Told That I Should Now Have Dentures For My Upper Jaw. I Have A Hypersensitive Gag Reflex. Is There An Alternative?

August 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. I have been battling periodontal disease for twenty five years and I have been told by my dentist that I should now have dentures for my upper jaw. I don’t think having five children has helped me. I am terrified that I won’t cope as I have a hypersensitive gag reflex. Is there any alternative at all? I have exposed roots and feel self conscious. I have a bridge and crowns across my 6 upper front teeth. I have a lot of bone loss, especially on the top right hand side. Due to neglect my oral hygiene as a child was very poor. I have worked very hard in adulthood to maintain good oral hygiene. I am a 56 year old non smoker.

Good Morning. Is There Any Way I Can Whiten My Teeth Without Having To Go To The Dentist?

August 5th, 2014
Q.

Good morning Dr Hughes. I want to know how to get rid of stains of my two front teeth. I would really want them whiter but I’m too nervous to go and see the dentist. I’m getting married in 2015 and I would like them to be whiter by then. Is there anything I can try at home? I’m brushing my teeth with pearl shine toothpaste, is there anything else could I try? Can you help me? My parents say I should go to the dentist locally but I’m too nervous. Thank you.

The Post Which Holds My Bridge Has Broken And Cemented In Place. Can This Post Be Replaced At The Same Location?

August 4th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Patel. I have 3 teeth bridged in the front – top row. This bridge usually rest on 2 posts which were made by grinding the 1st and 3rd teeth. Last year the 1st post was found to be broken and dentist’s observation was that it does not project out of the bone. My dentist has temporarily fixed it with cement but I fear that it could become loose at any time.
Can this broken post be replaced by a new post implanted at the broken tooth/post location? If yes then please let me know the cost and also time duration for the treatment.

Thank you for your suggestion and also for your time.

Kind regards.

I Get Sick From Wearing My Denture. Is There Any Other Treatment That Can Help Me?

August 4th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. The dentist advised me to have all my upper teeth removed as I was born with a cleft palette which was operated on as a baby. I can’t seem to wear the dentures they have given me as they irritate the roof of my mouth. Is there anything I can do on the NHS or is private my only option? I do work but being a single parent and only aged 49, I would struggle to go privately. I get violently sick whenever I wear my denture. I would appreciate any advice? Thank you.
