Q. hi i live in the manchester area and my 2 front teeth are bigger than the rest and more toward the front than the rest i am wondering what the average cost would be to have them removed and replace with false or how much a clear brace would cost i am on a low income so i am trying to find out if i can afford to do so as it effects my life in terms of confidance,
A. I would get an opinion with an Orthodontist to discuss your options for a brace before considerng getting them taken out. Braces cost anything from £1500.00 up to £3500.00. We do offer payment plans where you can spread the cost of your treatment up to 5 years.

Q. i have a dead front tooth, it is very discoloured, i had a brace when i was young but didn’t wear the retainer properly, so my front teeth are wonky again, i want another brace and also want internal bleeching, my dentist has reffered my to a
root canal specialist for the whitening, but says i cannot have a brace as it may cause me to loose my dead tooth, but i cant live with it any more, i hate it, what can i do??,
A. As long as the tooth which has been
root canal treated has settled down, you should be able to wear a brace. I am happy to take a look.

Q. Der Sir, I am graduating as a secondary school teacher next year and was hoping you could give me some advice on a straightening programme that would best suite my needs. I really don’t want to have to wear braces in school so I was looking into the 6 month smile of inman aligner programmes. Which do you think is the best? or are there other programmes that would be better? Thank you,
,
A. If your teeth are suitable then i would recomend the Ivisalign braces They are a clear gum shield of which no one will even notice your wearing them. The six smonth smile consists of a fixed bridge but the brackets are ceramic so again not really noticable.

Q. I AM 40 YEAR OLD WOMAN. I HAVE A GAP BETWEEN MY FRONT TEETH AND LATERAL INCISORES. A BIGGER GAP ON LEFT SIDE COMPARED TO RIGHT SIDE. WHAT WILL BE MY BEST OPTION TO FILL THE GAP?,
A. The least invasive of way of closing the gaps would be to wear a brace. There are several different types which we can offer. There is 1 designed for your front teeth only, which only takes up to 12 weeks this is the inman aligner. I would need to take a look to advise more accurately. Please feel free to contact the clinic.

Q. Hi I am 30 years old and had a plate put in about 5 years ago to cover 4 missing teeth in my front lower jaw. This was due to very poor oral hygiene on my part when I was growing up. There was a concern at the time that one of the teeth the plate anchors onto was also weak. Unfortunately, that tooth is now due to be removed. I do smoke about 2 cigarettes a day (trying to quit), I brush regularly and only drink water and try my best to avoid sugar as a result of all this but I feel as though I’m fighting a losing battle and I don’t want to lose anymore teeth. The plate can hurt when eating food and it is difficult to take in and out every day. I spoke with a consultant at the NHS yesterday and he was totally dismissive of the idea of implants. I know I would have to go private, that’s not a problem, but he told me not to bother wasting my money. I am concerned, however, that the plate is putting pressure on my other teeth and is causing me too much discomfort. I’m desperate to get this sorted out and I wanted to get a second opinion. I realise you’re a leading expert in this field and I was wondering if you could offer me any advice as to the best course of action? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Yours,
,
A. I’m not sure why the consultant is so dismissive as implants are a recognised treatment, unfortunately there is still some ignorance of new techniques in dentistry. i would be very happy to take a look if you’d like to contact my clinic for a consultation so I can tell you if you’re a suitable candidate.

Q. Hi, I am 36 yrs old and have never been able to smile properly since I was 5! because of very discoloured teeth. The reason behind this was due to a reaction to penicillin which the GP gave me when I was 5 yrs old. I have always dreamed of a nice smile. Spoke to my dentist a number of times when I was younger and basically he said there was nothing he could and white teeth would not match my complexion??? I just gave up hope. Since the popularity of cosmetic dentistry I have enquired into getting some form of treatment but the prices are way too high. I am a single parent of 3 with a little part time job – wot are the options available to me?,
A. Tooth whitening with custom fitted home trays might be the bets initial treatment as this is a cost effective way of improving the front teeth for a relatively small outlay of around £300-400. Obviously this is subject to you being a suitable candidate.

Q. hi, my 2nd molar top right has given me pain and swelling on/off for past 10years approx, I have had x3 lots of
root canal treatment (2 from same dentist week apart as I was still in alot of pain)…anyway there is black shadowing around root and I have been advised to have
root canal again or have it removed…if I want an implant in say 5-8 years time….can i just have tooth removed normally/pulled etc or do I need to get it removed in a special way to preserve bone to put the future implant into….I am really unsure, could you advise me and giver me your costs…many thanks in advance
,
A. I would get a 2nd opinion from a soecialist Endodontist to see whether the tooth can be saved before consdiering a dental implant. If you are advised to have the tooth removed, then really you need to have the implant placed as soon as possible after the
extraction, this is because as soon as the tooth is removed you start to loose bone from the site. Please feelfree to arrange a consultation with Dr I Sugden our specialist Endodontist.

Q. Does
teeth whitening work on a bridge or a crown that may be a part of your main set of teeth?. If not, I imagine that you would get a very patchy end result.,
A. Unfortunaetly not, crowns and bridges will not change colour with
tooth whitening so you would have to consider changing them once the
tooth whitening is completed.

Q. I have a misplaced line on my top teeth and my right 3 rd tooth (canine) was removed when i was 15 years old so my smile is not symetrical, i dont want to have braces as im not confident enough. I have considered having veener work done on 4 of my front teeth to create a symetrical smile. Honestly im scared and really want some good advice on whether this could be a good option for me. I need to find somthing that will not destroy my confidence any longer. I’m 28 years old now and i think veneers could be a calm option for me.,
A. I am happy to take a look. We do offer clear invisable braces this may be a good option for you. You could always choose the quicker route by having veneers or crowns I would have to take a look first to advise accurately. Please feel free to conatct the clinicfor a free consultation.

Q. I am 39 and 6 years ago I was told I had
gum disease & 1mm of horizontal bone loss. since then I have followed a strict oral hygiene regime and thankfully my problem is very much under control. The problem is I have been left with receding gums and I am absolutely at my wits end! I have no confidence & certainly don’t feel like smiling. I thought of veneers to maybe close up the gaps? but having read your web page, has there been recent success with the graft? Please help,
A. You need to see a specialist Periodontist he specialises in gum grafts for receeding teeth, there are a few different treatment options but this is best discussed with the specialist once you have had a consultaton. Please conatct the clinic to arrange a free consultation with Dr M Howdle our specialist Periodontist.

Q. Hi Dr Solanki I’ve actually been to see you before and really loved how comfortable I was made to feel as I’ve always been frightened of the dentist ever since I was little. When I was a child I was registered with a not very good dentist who tried and tried to fill one of my front teeth, spread filling stuff all over the tooth next to it, and eventually ended up putting on a very bad and bulky veneer. I’m almost 30 now, and I want my front teeth sorting out… I hate having my photo taken, as when I smile, I feel like the veneer sticks out and is magnified by the fact that the filling is still all over the tooth next to it and is quite discoloured… Also my two very front teeth overlap slightly, and one of them has a tiny chip in it, but it all adds to the downfall of my smile! What would you recommend? I know it’s going to be expensive, and wondered what kind of finance options you offer? Like most people, I don’t have much money going spare, but feel it would be worth it to regain confidence in my smile. Thanks,
A. We offer payment options where you can spread the cost up to 5 years. Please feel free to contact the clinic again so i can reassess your teeth and give you a treatment plan and full breakdown of cost. Thank you for your enquiry.

Q. I had
root canal treatment over 10 years ago and discovered quite sometime later, when I had an abcess, that I had a broken file in my tooth canal. I was advised to have an apecectomy but decided not to have this done whilst I was experiencing no pain. I recently had a slight tingling sensation and was worried that this was going to get worse so went to my dentist, he took an x ray and said I had a cyst at the end of the broken file and has now suggested that I see a specialist and have it removed but after reading lots of information about this procedure and that it is not always successful I am worried, if I am not experiencing any further pain or discomfort am I better off not having this treatment carried out. I am due to go away to Australia within the next couple of months and would like your advice as to whether I need this done and if so would it do any harm to leave it until after my trip. I am at present awaiting an appointment for a referral from my present dentist. many thanks,,
A. I think you should see the specialist, they should be able to tell from your x-rays whether it can wait or whether you need it sorting out ASAP
