Once the treatment has finished and I am maintaining the up keep of healthy gums, will I ever be able to have nice straight teeth?

Q. I am currently undergoing root planing for problematic gums which became apparent when only recently visiting a private Orthodontist to get straight teeth, this is when my diagnosis of Periodontal was first found. My question is, once the treatment has finished and I am maintaining the up keep of healthy gums, will I ever be able to have nice straight teeth? Kind regards

A. You can still have orthodontics so long as you understand that the foundations of your teeth are not so strong.  The teeth would have to be moved carefully and slowly and closely monitored.  You would have to wear retainers at night for the rest of your life.
