My wisdom tooth is infected and growing at a slant, can I have anaesthetic when I have them removed?

Q.
Hi, i went to the dentist today as my wisdom tooth at the top is causing me a bit of pain, they said i have infection and got antibiotics and that the tooth is coming through but on bit of a slant and may need removing. can i choose to have local or general anesthetic?
A.
Top wisdom teeth are usually very easy to take out. Once the infection has gone, it may not come back again so it may not be necessary to take it out if there is enough room for it.
Local anaesthesia is usually all that is required. If you are really nervous, you could consider intravenous sedation (£175) so you wouldnt remember anything about the procedure. You’d struggle to find a hospital that would do a general anaesthetic for something so quick to do
