My Wisdom Teeth Are Forcing My Teeth Out Of Shape. Should I Have Them Removed?

Q.
Dear Dr Hughes, I’m 19 years old, and I’ve had braces when I was 11 years old up until I was about 13. Now my wisdom teeth are coming through and my teeth are being forced together and slightly starting to form out of line and shape, which is making me rather paranoid, I’d love to get a brace or something that can re-line my teeth again but am unsure about how I go about this? Also do you advise waiting for the wisdom teeth to come through fully or seek to get them removed, as you can imagine I’m in a load of pain and can’t cope much longer!

Kind Regards.

A.
Hello and thank you for your enquiry. Sometimes it’s better to have the wisdom teeth removed but we’d need to assess that first. Your best port of call for advice on tooth movement is a specialist orthodontist or a dentist who has a lot of experience and training in orthodontics. There are lots of wonderful options available to you these days.  Kind regards, Mark.
