My wife has just returned from a visit to her dentists

Q. My wife has just returned from a visit to her dentists. She went there with a painful tooth. She has been charged £805 for a glass ion filling, PJC and RCT posterior, firstly is this a reasonable price for the treatment? Secondly, she was given no advice as to what options she had for treatment and not told what costs to expect, until after the initial work was done. Are there any guidelines, laid down by professional bodies, which dentists are supposed to follow in cases like this, and where is the best place to complain to about unprofessional conduct and/or breach of guidelines?

A. The first thing i would recommend would be to go back to, or call your wifes dentist to voice your concerns. Usually problems such as this can be settled amicably by talking it through with the dentist involved
