My teeth were straight until my wisdom teeth started to come through, how can I resolve this problem?

Q.
Hi there.

My teeth used to be perfectly straight until my wisdom teeth started growing in.

They are unable to grow properly because there isn’t enough room. Now I have a distinct overlap in my front two teeth. I have been advised that if I have my wisdom teeth removed then this may help resolve the problem – is this correct?

I am getting married in May 2013 and I was wondering how long it would take to straighten them and how much it would cost.

Thank you.

Hi. Congratulations on your engagement.

The answers to your questions lie in how complex your tooth realignment would be – the more difficult it is generally the longer it takes. Without seeing you in person and being able to assess this fully, it’s impossible to say. The best advice I could give you at this stage is to have a consultation as soon as possible to ensure you have enough time to have the treatment completed before your wedding.

Find a really experienced orthodontist or cosmetic dentist who does a lot of orthodontics to be able to find out the answers and get a treatment estimate

Kind regards

Mark
