My Teeth Turned Bad And I’m Paranoid About The Way My Fillings Look. Will The NHS Pay Towards Treatment?

Q.
Hi Dr Moore. I’m 19 and I really want perfect teeth but I have had problems in the past where my teeth have gone bad and I had to have fillings and now I’m paranoid about the way they look and it really upsets me. I would like to know the cost for permanent dentures all around my whole mouth and I don’t want to be able to move them I just really want a perfect set off teeth. Does the NHS pay for this or help towards payment? Thank you. I’d really like some advice.

Hello and thank you for your enquiry. Cosmetic treatment such as this isn’t available on the NHS. Based on what you’ve told me it sounds like veneers might be a good option so go to a local dentist and see what they can do for you. Once you find out how much work costs, you can then begin to save up. Alternatively you could ask your dentist to refer you to a teaching hospital. The waiting lists for these are lengthy however. I hope this helps you on your way. Kind regards, Dr Andrew Moore.
