My teeth are stained and neglected because of dental phobia, can I have veneers?

Q.
Hi Mark, Iam 42 years old and have not been to the dentist in years due to my phobia. Unfortunately i am a smoker and my teeth are stained really bad. They are also begining to rot. I would like to have veneers, Would this be possible? I am at the end of my tether as i feel so embarrased. Thankyou. x

The best thing for you to do is to go for a comprehensive consultation, ideally with an experienced cosmetic dentist. It sounds like you need a lot of basic dental care (fillings, gum treatments etc.) first before the cosmetic dentistry could be done. If you have phobia, then sedation or hypnosis could be used to help you get over your phobia. Do not worry – we see all kinds of problems on a daily basis and there is nothing to be embarrassed about when seeking dental treatment.
