My Teeth Are Rotting At The Back. If I Leave Them How Long Will It Be Until I’m In Serious Trouble?
Q.
Hi Dr Moore. Most of my back teeth have rotted away down to the gum line, I’m struggling to eat properly and have lost all my self confidence. I try not to speak to people so they don’t see what’s going on inside my mouth but I can’t afford to go to a dentist. I would need major work to fix them but am in a low paying job and can only just afford to pay my bills without paying thousands of pounds to a dentist. If I leave them how long will it be till I’m in serious trouble?

Hello. You should have the decayed teeth removed ASAP and then consider dentures through the NHS. The decaying teeth can lead to infection below the gum-line, which has potential to cause serious damage to your health. Once you have the teeth removed you can begin to save up. You may want to ask around at local clinics for payment plans and you could try and get your dentist to refer you to a dental hospital. I hope this helps you. Best of luck, Dr Andrew Moore.
