My son doesn’t have any canine teeth, why is this?

Q. My son is 9, and lost his primary teeth early, and had his adult teeth in very early also. I have just noticed this evening that while he is 12 lower jaw teeth, all the right ones, in his upper jaw, there are no canines on either side, and no room for them as his pre-molars are right next to his incisors. Why has he no canine teeth, and why haven’t the various dentists he’s seen over the years noticed or said anything about this? He has special needs, and could this be any sort of congenital or chromosomal abnormality? I’m worried!,
A. Do not get too worried at this stage. If he is missing the teeth it is not unusual to to wait for the othrs to come through to check they are good quality then plan the orthodontics. It would appear that now is good time to ask your dentist for an orthodontic referral. Expect some xrays. Rob3
