My Root Cracked After Root Canal Treatment. Would A Cantilever Bridge Be A Suitable Option For Me?
Q.
Hello Dr Hughes. I am 80 years old. My dentist tried to do a root canal on one side of a bridge that holds a false tooth between two crowns. He had a problem that resulted with the root being cracked. This is on the lower left side. I have all four wisdom teeth but when the cracked root tooth is pulled that will leave two teeth missing with only a wisdom tooth and the original crown on the other side.

Will a cantilever bridge work for me? I do not want an implant and would like further treatment options suitable to me? Thank you.

Hello. It might be possible but I would need to see X-rays and examine you before I could give you a conclusive answer. It might be better to run a bridge from the wisdom tooth all the way forward. If the space is too wide or the cantilever too unstable then a denture or implant solution may have to be considered. This website has more information on the treatments covered, which may help you. Regards, Mark.
