Q. hi, my partner’s front teeth are twisted and look awful. what could be done to give him a straight good looking smile? thanks

A.

There are 2 options
1) braces. He may need to wear them for 18months. There are now options of white tracks, invisalign or braces that are placed on the back surfaces of the teeth.

2) Veneers. This would involve reshaping the teeth and placing porcelain covers over the top.
Veneers are an irreversible treatment and they may need to be replaced in the future
Both treatments have their pros and cons but you partner has to decide what is best for him. It may not bother him at all!

If he wants to have the work done it is best to seek the opinion of an orthodontist and a cosmetic dentist to see which options best suits him

A. He has 2 options
1) Braces, there are a few options. He could have white tracks, invisalign or braces put on the back of his teeth so that they are not seen from the front. Brace treatment can last up to 18 months to 2 years. He would need to go and see an orthodontist.

2) veneers, these are porcelain covers that are placed on the teeth. The teeth are shaved down so that the teeth are in the correct position to place the veneers. The amount of tooth structure removed is related to the amount of crowding that is present.

The best thing to do would be to have a consultation with a cosmetic dentist and an orthodontist so that he knows all of the options and he can make an informed decision
