My NHS Dentist Doesn’t Answer My Questions Regarding Gum Grafts. What Are My Options?

Q.
Hello Dr Moore. I have gum recession which is moderately bad on my bottom middle two teeth but less so on the surrounding few. I also have it moderately bad on one tooth on my top row. It has been caused by overaggressive brushing but I have now learnt how to brush properly, I was thinking of having a gum graft and was wondering what my options are? My current NHS dentist doesn’t really answer my questions and seems keen on just giving me sensitive toothpaste and putting fluoride on the areas affected. Why is this? Thank you.
A.
Hello and thank you for getting in touch. Gum grafts aren’t usually available through the NHS, why not seek out a local gum specialist (periodontist) for a consultation and advice on treatment and costs, if you’re near Essex call my clinic on 084438788788 and we can chat through some options. In the meantime you can read up on the various gum graft procedures through this website. I hope this helps. Best wishes, Dr Andrew Moore.
