Q. Hi dr moore, im am asking you some advice on behalf of my mother who is having problems with her bridge, this has now caused emotional and phycological distress, her bridge become loose after 3 years and suddenly fell out , after going to her dentist he put it back in the incorrect position and her bite id completely out, you can clearly see this, her dentist told her if they remove the bridge she could loose her tooth underneath therefore requireing false teeth which is causeing my mum much distress.the dentist said she could wait untill its fell out itself but this could be some time.please can you help or advise me she is a nhs paitent.regards

A. It might be best to remove the bridge and try to make a new bridge. If she is an HNS patient implants are not available although she could pay separately for this treatment if she wants to avoid dentures. Regards  Andrew

Jeremy Says :

Hello Doc.

Last week I had some bridge work done to replace a 2-tooth lower plate, which I’ve lived with for over 20 years, but which was becoming irritating and ill-fitting. The bridge looks fantastic, but feels very unwelcome in my mouth and I’m starting to panic that I’ve made the wrong decision by having this work done. All I can feel in my mouth is this bridge; eating has become a depressing affair, since the bridge feels like its dominating my taste buds. Will this discomfort subside? How long should I wait before deciding to have the thing removed? Please help!
