My mother has few of her own teeth what are the options for her?

Q. My mother is eighty years young and has only a few of her own teeth,(front/bottom) On a very recent visit to our dentist we explained how much her remainig teeth meant to her and could they be improved/saved? we asked about crowns, bridges, etc. His responce was quite negative and he put a very light coloured filling in one tooth and said that was about all that could be done!. I realise you can only coment generally without having more clinical information but your reponse would be appreciated very much. Regards

A. Hi . I can understand that it can be very disheartening. Your mother obviously cares for her teeth and would like them improving. I don’t see why she shouldn’t have the same options as other people. Take age out of the equation, and I see a lady who would like her teeth restoring for the remainder of her life. If that is what she wants, then why not? Crowns are a good option to improve overall aesthetics of teteh and also help to protect the underlying tooth structure from further damage. If you don’t feel comfortable with her present dentist, then you are more than right to get a second opinion/quotation from another practice. Good luck.
