Q. My #18 molar needs to be extracted. My dentist recommended an implant. The oral surgeon said he could graph it for a possible implant to keep my options open. Do I really need an implant? What are the disadvantages of just extracting it?
A. If this is your wisdom tooth then it is unusual for a implant to be placed. However if this is a functioning tooth then losing it may affect your bite and chewing power
