My Gums Shrank Considerably And Now I Look 5 Years Older. Can Anything Be Done To Bring Back My Youthful Appearance?

Q.
Hello Dr Hughes. I am a young looking 65 year old.
My dentist misjudged my gums while
preparing them for 8 span bridge he was having made for me. He removed too much and as a result I needed to have a crown lengthening. My gums
shrank considerably after I was healed.
I now look at least 5 years older than I
did before the surgery. Can anything be done to bring back my youthful
appearance? Should I reporting him
to the peer review board? Thank you. I look forward to your reply.

Thank you for your questions. My advice would be to visit with a very experienced cosmetic dentist and his periodontist who should also be experienced in gum grafting and aesthetic surgical procedures. It may also be wise to discuss your concerns with your dentist as they may be able to help you. This website has information on what grafting involves and should cover most of your concerns regarding this matter. I hope this helps. Best wishes, Mark.
